Christmas, Thanksgiving and New years. Everyone knows these holidays, whether you celebrate them or not. But did you know thats a holiday for virtually every day? So if you need a reason to celebrate, pick one of these and pull out the party hats!

February 1st-National freedom Day

Established in 1948, National Freedom Day descends directly from the end of slavery, when the 13th amendment outlawing slavery was signed. It is a holiday to remind us of the freedoms we all enjoy as Americans.

February 2nd- Groundhog Day

Everyone knows of this holiday-Groundhog wakes up in Punxsatawney, PA, steps outside to see if he sees his shadow. But not many people know about the origins of the day, as it comes from German roots. This tradition is based on Candlemas, which is the day thats between Winter and Spring. A famous poem goes, "If Candlemas be fair and bright, Winter has another flight. If Candlemas brings clouds and rain, Winter will not come again."

February 3rd- The Day The Music Died

On this day in 1959, three famous singers died in an airplane crash. They were Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Booper. This day pays tribute to these dead singers. They were quite famous with the 50's generation, and were mourned greatly by many people.

February 4th - Create a Vacuum Day

Truly an odd one, no one really knows where or why this "holiday" originated. One can only speculate! So instead, use this day to also celebrate Thank a Mailman Day. At least this ones pretty self-explanatory. So say thanks to your mail carrier or post office worker today!

February 5th- National Weatherman's Day

A day to thank those that try hard to predict the weather for the rest of us. Air Force News says that this holiday commemorates the birth date of John Jeffreys, who was one of the United States first weathermen.

February 6th -Lame Duck Day

A day to recognize people whose position in authority is about to run out. A Lame Duck may be a politician who lost in the elections, but must remain in office until his term is up. Or a teacher or manager about to retire, yet still working.

February 7th- Wave All Your Fingers at Your Neighbor Day

A day to really say hello to your neighbors, not only by a big wave, but by a bright smile. after all, its nice to be friendly, and you just might make somebody's day!
