Weird News for Monday

Karen Gros
I decided to take a little break and write something up that is lighter and a bit on the fun side-weird news. I hope you enjoy this edition of "weird news" because I hope to continue writing these short articles to share stories that I find in the news that can be considered a bit weird! Enjoy!

Black Friday

It really was a "black Friday" at the Bridgewater Commons Mall in Bridgewater, New Jersey this past Friday. Of all days for an electrical outage, it occurred on the traditional day called Black Friday. Some stores let customers use flashlights to shop and processed sales with handwritten tickets. Larger department stores such as Bloomingdales gave out $15.00 gift certificates to all customers standing in line for the store opening.

Ironically, they never found out exactly what caused the power outage.

Man Breaks in Home to Cook

This event happened in Alexandria, Louisiana. A man broke into a home and was found in the kitchen cooking by the homeowner. She asked him what he was doing and he told her that the house belonged to his aunt and she had told him that he could come over any time he wanted. She called the police who placed him under arrest. Police discovered that he was a homeless man.

Chocolate Lab Greets Customers at Drive Thru Window

In Clearwater, Florida don't be surprised if you are greeted by a chocolate lab at the drive thru window at the BP gas station. Cody, is a chocolate lab that belongs to the store owner. She started bringing Cody to work with her on the early morning shift for company. Cody is now a big hit with the customers who enjoy seeing the dog on their visits to the store.

Cody has a BP shirt and nametag. There was no mention as to how much Cody makes at the gas station. I think he should at least collect tips!

I hope you enjoyed reading these stories as much as I did. Stay tuned for more "weird" news!

I know exactly where the Bridgewater Commons Mall is! I wish more dogs would work at public places. They really do lift people's spirits.
