It's True I Tell You - News Too Bizarre to Make Up

Tony Payne
I heard about an odd story featured in the Daily Telegraph this morning, while I was listening to the radio on the way to work. So I searched, and as yet I still haven't found it, but what I have found are a few bizarre news items that are just too good to wait until I publish the latest Offbeat News tomorrow.

So here is a Special Edition if you like crazy news stories. I hope you enjoy them...

Mobile Phone Number Suspended After All Three Owners Die

A mobile phone company in Bulgaria has suspended the phone number 0888 888 888 after the three people who had it assigned to them died.

The first owner was the former CEO of the phone company itself, who died of cancer at the age of 48. There were rumors of a rival having used radioactive poisoning which caused the cancer.

Then the number was acquired by a Bulgarian Mafia Boss, who was killed by an assassin in 2003. He had the phone on him at the time he was shot.

Finally, it was assigned to a crooked businessman, who was shot outside a restaurant in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.

The number is dormant while police investigate the latest death, but this now has me worried.

My mobile number is 0666 666 6666 and I carry my phone in my back pocket. I feel that maybe I ought to walk with my back to a wall, just in case something unexpected happens to me.

Original Amityville Horror House Up For Sale

The REAL house on which the Amityville Horror movie was based is on the market for $1.15 million.

The Lutz family, who stayed in the house for a short time, and experienced strange happenings, were the inspiration for this classic horror movie. Six members of the previous family who owned the house were found shot to death in their beds, their eldest son was later convicted of the crimes.

I don't know about you, but even if it was for sale for $1, I don't think I would want to live there.

Doctor Still Working Aged 100 Years

A doctor whose 60 year career included delivering over 18,000 babies is still working, despite having reached the age of 100.

The doctor, who is from Augusta in Georgia, is the oldest known practicing medic, and has no plans for retiring.

Good for him, but I wonder what effect his failing eyesight, failing memory, or other things associated with that age might have on his treatments. I guess he is at least less likely to recommend popping pills to his patients, and more likely to listen and to offer good advice.

Illegal Immigrants Enter UK In F1 Convoy

A convoy carrying Formula One cars returning from the Monaco Grand Prix, had illegal immigrants hop aboard in France. The stowaways were discovered when the convoy arrived at it's base at the former Battle Of Britain airfield at Biggin Hill in Kent.

Fortunately the stowaways were found, and did not join an estimated 725,000 other illegal immigrants already in the UK.

Chelsea Flower Show Invaded By Naked Flash Mob

The Chelsea Flower Show in London is one of the most famous flower shows in the world, and is on all this week.

A mob of naked models, well naked except for skimpy panties, body paint, and daisies to cover their nipples, shocked the demure crowd at the show as they walked through the displays, and posed for photographs.

Actually the models look quite tasteful, or should I say tasty, according to the picture in the article.

funny, and strange. loved this...I really love news of the weird and even wrote a hub on it for the best resources. and once I visited the Amityville house.. I wouldn't even accept this house as a gift, in fact, I think I'd be insulted if someone even tried to offer it! great read!

I understand how you feel about the Amityville house, I grew up only a few minutes form it. It's not so bad once you get used to knowing what happened, and it really is a nice house, after all... Spooky at night, but nice. Great Weird news, as usual Tony! ~JC Torpey
