Weird Storm Flooding in Atlanta, Ga. On Sept. 21, 2009 Tragically Takes 6 Deaths
The "worst Rain Storm in Recorded History"
The Snake Creek beside their mobile home apparently normally only reaches about 2 or 3 inches during rainfall in Carrolton Ga., but received this tremendous "so-called tropical overnight storm" in this area in about eight hours or so, up to 12-18 inches of rain. Apparently, their home was flooded and 'floating" with almost 6-12 feet of water, or possibly more, within hours, causing family members to "jump" out of their mobile home and "cling" for survival anywhere possible while floating down this river of unusual and "weird" rainfall for Atlanta.
The Atlanta-Carrol County female parent was reported as "clinging on to her (1) one year child" which was successful at the time, but the husband tried to save their other (2) two year old child infant without any luck and lost the child in this terrible "Hard Rain" weird storm which took place overnight in Metro-Atlanta, Ga. in just a matter of hours.
Carrol County-Atlanta rescue workers reported the surviving and trying "to hold to dear life" father was holding on to a tree approx. 1 mile downstream of their mobile home location hours later. Unfortunately, at the time the 2 year old child's body was no where to be found until the next day found by firefighters in this local Carrol County community here in Metro-Atlanta, Ga., which was sad for this peaceful and loving community.
Ironically, Metro-Atlanta Cobb County schools still ran on this historical day in history. Causing many parents of these children to be "outraged" because of the irresponsible behavior of the county's board of education. School buses had to avoid gigantic streams of water in the road ways, children walking in huge puddles of water and bus drivers going out of the way of their normal route and some parents were even required to pick-up their small children down the street and other locations, because of flooding zones.
The local Atlanta news stated that "most residents slept through this horrific rainfall during Sunday night, until Monday morning and had NO idea what was going on?" Simply because it happened overnight?" (Some people seem to sleep much better during the rain, without any worries in life?") Especially, the board of education members of different Metro-Atlanta counties, during this particular incident.
Unfortunately, "this is one time in Atlanta, Ga., residents wish they had NOT slept through the peaceful and calm sounds of rain drops!" A lot of Atlanta people mostly woke up at approx. 7:00 a.m. to their home basements being flooded, lakes of water in front of their homes, roads and bridges that had actually collapsed in plain view, their vehicles possibly underwater, their next door neighbors house was covered half-way in water, seeing boats travel across their front lawns.
Weather experts here in Atlanta Ga., state this was a one-time incident. Most home owners in Atlanta NEVER think about flood insurance, because this area in the U.S.A. has very little rain to cause a problem, (especially after a (4) four year drought). Insurance experts state that vehicles that are covered under a comprehensive plan will most likely be covered, but most home owners plans storm damage regarding their roofs, yards, wind damage, etc. does NOT include flood insurance.
