Weirdest Post I Have Seen on Craig's List

Colleen Mitchell
I just love Craig's List (www.craigslist.com) and find many great items on it! I scour the ads about once a week and occasional come across some of the weirdest posts and amusing listings.

In the personal ads you expect to find people listing the qualities that they are looking for in a partner, like non-smoker or a particular religion. I once saw a man that listed a fairly normal set of specifications only to end his request with, "Non-square dancers need not apply." Darn. Up till then he seemed like the man of my dreams!

I have seen people in search of the oddest things as well. One lady wanted socks. Just socks. Any socks at all. I was tempted to ask her what she wanted all those socks for but I decided against it.

Just recently I saw the funniest ad where a man argued with people in his advertisement. He was looking for a female pit bull as a companion for his recently rescued male pit bull who he adored. He was apparently expecting a good deal of trouble as his ad reads like a one sided argument - it read:

"My wife and I are looking for a female pit bull puppy. Before you go on here and rant about irresponsibility, we just adopted a three month old male from the rescue, and love him to death. We had him neutered right away. He needs a friend now. The only reason we are looking for a breeder, is because we want her to reach her first heat before getting her spayed. The rescue places will make us do it right away. Now, before you say that this has no affect on the dog's growth, and maturity, go cry to someone else because it does. Any who. We prefer four months or younger, full blood, and short frame if possible. We are willing to drive to get her, and we would like to see the mothers living condition/ temperament. Thank you and god bless."

One man was giving away a free ticket to the movies in his town - the catch was you had to take him with you. I guess his date fell through. Perhaps he didn't have a date and decided that going with a random stranger off Craig's list would be better than going alone. No I did not call and go to the movies with him. With my luck he would have turned out to be an axe murderer.

I think my absolute favorite weird post would have to be the man selling a collection of wigs. These were not just any wigs. They came in colors like orange, green, and magenta. I can't imagine where he would have picked those wigs up, or why he acquired so many of them, but he was obviously very attached to them as he "preferred to sell them as a set" but would separate them if "absolutely necessary." You would have thought he was trying to find homes for orphans, not wigs.

All in all Craig's List is a great place to find a good deal every now and then, and with all the weird posts, it is also a place to get a few laughs for free too!
