Weirdest New Smartphone Accessory – the Old-School Handset

Old Handsets for New Smartphones

For most people, the cell phone has become a way of life. No longer are people tethered to the house when making or receiving calls. Unfortunately, along with that change come a less cool thing, and that is, talking on cell phones is just not as easy as it was on the old fashioned land-line. This is because the cell phone is designed for portability, while the old handsets connected to the old phones were designed to be both comfortable to use and really good at transferring conversations between people. This is why several companies have sprung up in recent years to give people the option of connecting an old fashioned handset to their new fashion Smartphone.

First up, the YUBZ (why you busy?) a hip, colorful option that is packaged in its own special case for easy interesting storage when at home. While on the go, the handset can be tucked into a shirt or coat pocket and used when either placing or receiving calls.

Another choice is the A + R, which is rather plain, hence the companies touting how using it instead of pressing a Smartphone against your head saves you from the radiation your phone emits, potentially, saving your life.

Another option is the IMobifone, which also makes a lot of noise about the dangers of radiation and how using their handset can protect you.

All three of the phones plug into the USB adaptor on a Smartphone and come with software to make it work. Also, all three can be used with VoiP applications as well, making them a smart choice for the hip and health minded crowd.

Another selling point of the phones is the low price, all are in the $25 to $35 range, though some require add-ons to use all the features.

Other selling points for the handsets is the "feel" they provide and the image they project. There is little doubt that communicating is a far superior experience with the handset as it is designed to fit your ear as you listen, and has a far bigger microphone than any Smartphone on the market. Also because of its design, it should be far easier to talk in a crowd.

The other aspect, the image they project is all business. Other people in the vicinity know that the person using the handset is on the phone, not talking to you, or someone else. Plus, it adds a certain professionalism that is surely absent from the pretentious BlueTooth headgear many wear when trying to use their Smartphone to greatest effect.
