Welcome to the Exotic World of Indian Cinema with "Bollywood Legends" - India's Answer to Barbie and Ken Dolls

Move over Ken and Barbie, as India has come forward with their exclusive dolls. Based on Bollywood actors and actresses they have hit the market in the UK under the name "Bollywood Legends". The first of the four 12-inch dolls in the series are in the likenesses of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol and Priyanka Chopra.

London-based entrepreneur Shameen Jivraj, who came up with the concept four years ago has joined forces with Funskool India (who designed the exclusive dolls) and leading toy manufacturer/distributor Spin Master Toys UK in order to launch the first-ever Bollywood dolls.

Intrigued by Bollywood, she was drawn into the films' mix of fun, fashion, music and dance, which is so common. Jivraj said in an interview, "It's such a magical and emotive arena and I wanted to create something that would allow the audiences to be able to take some of that magic home to treasure and enjoy in a unique and new way."

Jivraj traveled to India and spoke with the stars about her project of creating the dolls based on them and was favorably received. Thus, the craze of Bollywood and its stars have been immortalized for all the fans worldwide.

The "Bollywood Legends" dolls have been meticulously crafted in such a way as to detail everything from the stars' outfits and their expressions, right down to Shahrukh Khan's famous S-curved eyebrows, Hrithik's classic jaw line, Kajol's dreamy "Simran" look and Priyanka's sultry lips.

Each doll comes with traditional Indian clothing, with Kajol and Priyanka wearing gorgeous and ornate dresses in vibrant colours and adorned with beautiful jewelry. Kajol's in particular is inspired by the green outfit she wore in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (the longest running Indian film of all time - since October 1995). Priyanka dons a red and blue outfit. Shah Rukh and Hrithik are in eastern-wear and each includes an extra western-wear outfit. Background information and pictures about the stars are also included with each corresponding doll. The stunning gift boxes in which the dolls are encased, also includes the stars' names and signatures in gold.

The unveiling event in India took place on September 4th, with Bollywood star Kajol at the JW Marriott in Juhu, Mumbai. Kajol charmed the invitees and interacted with the media on the special occasion.

On September 14th the dolls were also launched at Harrods in London. Hrithik Roshan and Kajol appeared in person on a horse drawn carriage. They visited Harrods' Toy Kingdom on the 4th floor where they met fans and signed the new dolls.

The dolls will be sold in outlets across the globe. Toys R Us, Harrods, Argos and other major retailers are carrying the dolls for a price of £24.99 each. Get yours today and bring the magic of Bollywood home!

And if you live in the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, enter to win the collection of dolls through GMTV (http://www.gm.tv/index.cfm?articleid=22447). Competition ends on October 1, 2006.
