The Redwood Libraryat 50 Bellevue Avenue isfree to the public year-round. It is the oldest operating library in the country with a wonderful art work and paint collection. The Old Stone Mill at Truro Park, Bellevue Avenue is a unique and mysterious sight where some believe that Norsemen long before Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas had built this Ole Stone Mill while others date it from the mid 17th Century. Who really knows...? Theories abound about this Mill from Colonial theories to Benedict Arnold theories. Learn about Blackbeard and his visits to Newport at the Museum of Newport History at 127 Thames St. They have suggested donations which makes it kinda free... The Museum highlights the English settlers of the 17th century up to the gilded age (for some) when America's ultra-wealthy resided in the "summer cottages" HA!

Experience breath-taking scenery where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean at Brenton Point State Park. Named after William Brenton, previous owner and former Governor from 1660-1668. Here you can picnic, go fishing or hiking, enjoy the public gardens or just relax in the ocean breezes from the Atlantic. Brenton Point State Park is located on Ocean Drive, Newport, RI. If long, scenic walks entice you then the Newport Cliff Walk is for you. 3.5 miles of walkway along Newport's shoreline on Narragansett bay with rocky coves below.The walk can be accessed form a number of locations including from the mansions or from First Beach or Bellevue Ave., Ledger Rd. or Ruggles Ave. Bring a camera and share the impressive view with friends.

Taste excellent local wine at Newport Vineyards in nearby Middletown on 909 East Main Rd (138). There are 50 acres of hybrid and varietal grapes producing red, white, dessert, and sparkling wine. Also reserves and hard cider is produced and they offer private labeling. The Nunes family purchased this farm in 1917 and has continually owned it since then. The first planting was 1977.
