"Welcome Home" to Winchester Ridge
Neighborhood: Winchester Ridge
Fort Wayne, IN 46819
United States of America
When we got the news that my husband was being transfered to Fort Wayne, Indiana our family was excited with all the new possibilities that lie before us... a new house, new friends, new places to discover and for the kids all the new parks and hangouts. We couldn't wait to begin the adventure. We were all filled with excitement. Then we got the news that we had ONLY three weeks to move- so within three weeks time we needed to sell our current house, find a new house, move and all this to a city we had only been to once before in our entire life. As you can imagine now the panic set in!!

How do you find a new home in a town you don't know??? What side of town should we move to? How are the schools? Where is everything? Being faced with this huge task we jumped in and didn't look back- how could we? we only had three weeks.

I found some houses on "Realtor.com" that looked hopeful and we found a Realtor and took a Sat. and drove all over town checking out all the prospective homes on our list. After an entire day seemingly wasted we were still "homeless" and feeling like this was more than we could handle. how do you find a home that your family will love in one day?

Sitting with the Realtor wondering what was the next step, I remembered there was one more house that I had printed off. At the time I didn't think we would be able to afford it , but what would checking out one more disappointing house hurt?? So we followed our Realtor to Winchester Ridge a fairly new Lancia development located in the South Central part of town.

Pulling in the neighborhood my husband and I made comments like " wouldn't this be nice" and " Wow- we should have started here". Winchester Ridge is a beautiful neighborhood. With manicured lawns, children riding bikes and playing and a nice pond to the west side of the neighborhood. We pulled in the drive way and knew "this was our home"- of course the "Must sell NOW" sign in the yard made a great impression too! Needless to say we made an offer and the "seller" accepted. We hung our "welcome Home" sign up just about a year ago and have been very happy with our decision.

What started out as an stressful and depressing Sat. looking for homes actually led us to a wonderful new life in a beautiful neighborhood filled with very loving and caring neighbors.

Winchester Ridge has a active neighborhood association and a yearly community picnics that encourages fellowship and caring for your community and friends.

So my advice to all those who are thinking of re-locating to Fort Wayne or just looking for a new house - Start at Winchester Ridge find your home too!!
