Welcome to Yahoo!

Greetings from Yahoo!'s Vice President of Local

Matthew Idema
AC Contributors!

We are looking forward to your future contributions to the Yahoo! family. YOU are a big reason we are so excited to be joining forces with Luke, Patrick and the Associated Content team. Last week I met with the individuals who lead several of our largest and most prominent media properties including Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! Finance, OMG!, Shine and Yahoo! Local - just to name a few. Our editorial staff is very enthusiastic about incorporating your work into what we publish to millions of people every day. We are getting up to speed on how the AC system works so please be patient but also get ready... the opportunity to contribute to Yahoo! is coming soon.

One more thing. Since you're the experts, we want to hear from you: How can Yahoo! best harness the power of Associated Content's platform? What types of content would you love to create for our network? What could we do to make this an even better place to publish? Should Associated Content have a new name? Email your thoughts to bigideas@associatedcontent.com. If you're on Twitter, you can also tweet them @acnews with the hashtag #bigideas!

Along with the request for press credentials, I would like to see a way for "reporters" to get paid for local news that might be put up on the Associated Press. I'm not sure how that could work but I assume it would require review times to be much quicker than they are now. I can't see how it would be profitable to report on local news unless it gets published quickly and people are paid for their gas money and trouble for going out.

Hello and thanks for the invitation to hear our ideas.

Thanks for the information and encouragement!

Doesn't have to do anything. He posts one article, gets almost 4,000 views and is on level 4. Only because he's on the team.

Ps- I forgot to mention the email to you bounced. In regard to the AC name, please do not change it. 1. The name, "Associated Content," has a professional ring to it. In some peoples' minds the name reminds them of "Associated Press."

    2. Think of the initials: AC. It sounds like powerful electric current. Yahoo! can think of nifty marketing phrases like, "Get charged up today with Yahoo! AC!"

    3. Associated Content is a trusted name on the Internet.

Greetings. I tried sending you an eamil with my thoughts to bigideas@associatedcontent.com. Also, I posted this same general comment yesterday and it has disappeared from the list.

Welcome Matthew. I think it is very exciting what the future holds for us with Yahoo. I love writing and reading other articles and what other people have to say. I love Yahoo and enjoy reading all articles that are posted. I think maybe the front page should be more attractive, but I like the name and that is what most of my friends and family know. Looking forward to what lies ahead.

Hi Matthew! Welcome and thanks for the letter. I am very excited about the new adventure with Yahoo. I've been writing parttime for AC since May 09 and I love it. I do hope the AC name is not changed. I agree with some of the others about the front page being more user friendly. I like to write local content and would like to be able to have a press badge. I also am interested in writing more Arts and Entertainment content. I also love Health related articles and Green content. I can't wait to see what my future holds with this new venture with Yahoo!
