Welcoming Fall

PamIam
Fall is a wonderful time of the year. Leaves change to orange, red, and yellow. Cooler weather begins. Autumn produce fills the stores. This article will give you ideas to welcome the seasonal change in your home.

You don't need to completely redecorate, but adding pieces in Fall colors throughout your home will have a big impact. Change out items such as table linens or wreaths to reflect the change in season. Small gourds and pumpkins are readily available and can be used without doing anything to them. They can be used for centerpieces, on shelves, or on the steps to your front door. Fall is the perfect time to bring out the blankets and quilts. Stack a couple in the living room to cuddle up under in the evenings. Scented candles and hand soaps can give an ode to autumn. Look for scents that include fall foods such as pumpkin, apple, and pomegranate. Spicy scents like cinnamon remind people of fall as well. Candles add warmth and light to shorter and cooler days.

The changing seasons bring changes in fresh produce. Enjoy in season fruit such as apples, grapes, pears, and pomegranate. Fall vegetables include squash, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes. As the cooler weather begins fix hot, hearty, comforting foods. Fall is the perfect time to start fixing soups and stews. Let them simmer all day, and enjoy the added bonus of the smells permeating your home. Squash goes well in many pasta dishes. Apple crumbles and pumpkin pies make yummy after dinner treats.

Spend some time outdoors enjoying the changes taking place in nature. The cooler weather will make outdoor activities more pleasant. Rake leaves and let your children jump in the piles. Take a hike at a natural park and check out the changing leaf colors. Find a local farm that allows you to pick your own apples. Take a hay ride. Search for the perfect pumpkin out of many in the pumpkin patch. Enjoy a walk in the brisk evening air.

People normally think of spring cleaning and not fall cleaning, but fall is the perfect time of year to do a big cleaning. Put away warm weather clothing and bring out the cool weather clothing. Go ahead and bring out extra quilts and heated blankets for the bed. Take the time to clean thoroughly, and get all those places that do not get done regularly. Purge clutter and unused items from your home. Taking the time to do this will make the increased time indoors in the coming winter months less stressful.

I agree with your last paragraph- it's the last chance to get things in order before you're cooped up with the mess for months.
