Welfare for the Lazy - Freeloaders Dream

A Disturbed Mind Speaks!
Do you hate responsibility, work, and having to spend money on bills and groceries? If you answered yes to any of the above than go to welfare. You won't have to do any of the above. Why, because welfare will pay your way and you don't have to do a damn thing to get it. All you have to do is be lazy and sit back and collect! Welfare will pay for your rent and give you fuel assistance. They will give you food stamps, Medicaid and cash too! Isn't that great? It's funny though because when welfare was established in 1953 it was originally intended to be used to help needy people and their families. Sadly even though that was the original intention that is not what it is used for today.

A hard working person who pays taxes who can hardly make ends meet is not eligible for welfare. Even though they have been paying out money on their weekly taxes from their paychecks they are not entitled to help from the government. That's not fair to them. I think that the system is corrupted. How are you helping anyone by just giving them free handouts and no limitations or tools to use to help them better their lives. Example if you go to welfare after you loose your job and apply for food stamps they will give you the food stamps and tell you in order to keep the assistance that you must participate in a job search program. Sounds okay doesn't it? Welfare helps you with food so long as you make an 'EFFORT' to look for a job, they give you a sheet and you must apply to jobs and have the employers sign the sheet to vouch for you applying. I think that if you went there they should give you some kind of job training skills. Weather it was helping you get a G.E.D, resume& interviewing skills or a skill to help you land a better job where you made enough money to never need their help again or any time soon. If give a man a fish he will eat for that day but if you teach him how to fish he will eat for the rest of his days.

Today in order for you to be eligible to receive help from welfare you have to be extremely poor and own absolutely nothing. I own a vehicle and I work and now have become pregnant. I have had a troubled pregnancy and have a hard enough time working part time never mind me trying to work full time like I used to before I became pregnant. I request help with Medicaid and food stamps and was told I was only eligible for Medicaid because I make to much money. Too much money is $1027.00 monthly before taxes. I went and applied for W.I.C. as they told me to and I got it. Sadly W.I.C. only provides you with milk, juice, cereal, cheese, and eggs. Honestly how long can you eat those items everyday for ? I only make enough to pay my car, gas, and a few bills and then I don't have anything left over to buy food.

When I called my case worker she said that they have 150 programs. That is really sad that they have all of those programs and I am not eligible for any of them. I have friends who are on welfare and are living it up. They don't work get help from their boyfriends, rent assistance ,food stamps , cash assistance, and subsidized housing of some form and they have no intentions of doing anything. I get punished by not being able to get any help because I am trying to better myself by holding down a job. My job is a low paying job but it is one of the few things that I can do. When I asked for some form of job training program so that I could learn skills to get a better job and not have to be on the system they told me that they don't have anything like that all they have is a program to help you obtain your G.E.D which I already have. The workers response to that was well we don't pay for college. I don't want someone to pay my way through college. I just want to be provided with information so that I can find a way to better myself a little bit I never knew that was a crime.

  • Welfare is help that a working person is entitled too not a charity to help the lazy .
  • Welfare should do a better job of weeding out the recipients who don't need it.
  • Why should you have to pay for someone else to live better than you do?

It is very unfortunate for the people who make just over what is considered poverty level. The poverty level for 2007 according to the Dept of Health and Human Services was $10,210. Which is a real slap in the face for anyone who made $10,250. The government's idea of poverty and the reality of poverty in America are two completely different things. Last year I lost my job of 5 years. It took six months for me to recieve my first unemployment check. I only needed unemployment assistance for the 6 weeks I was unemployed. I lost a job I held for 5 years over corporate bullshit. Was unemployed for six weeks, my family and I had to forego paying bills in order to have food, and then when I finally got my unemployment it was for 2 weeks, not the 6 weeks I was unemployed. I will never try to get assistance from the government again. Because you are right, they only help people who refuse to work, not those who are contributing through taxes to the system.
