Start off by making sure you have a clean and organized home. If things are organized and where you can find them then you are less likely to get stressed trying to find what you are in need of. Cleanliness is also helpful, as a dirty house leads to stress and depending on what kind of mess you have it could cause allergies and other sicknesses.
Create a quite and happy place. Find one room where you feel most comfortable and set yourself up your own sacred space. If you like to meditate this would be your place to go for quiet and comfort. Or maybe it is the place where you like to curl up and read a book. Whatever it is that makes you relax, that is what this space should be for. It should be someplace in which the other people in your household know not to disturb your time there!
Make your bed everyday. Wash the dishes after you use them. Keep your dirty clothes tucked away in a hamper. Upkeep on the house will mean less things to look at and get stressed over. Walking into your bedroom at night to an already made bed just invites instant comfort instead of that feeling of "oh, more work to do and I just wanted to sleep."
To bring some joy, brightness and lively hood into your home decorate with flowers and some live plants. The will help make your air more pure, make your rooms smell pleasant and they will give you something beautiful to look at. Don't forget to water the plants and change out your flowers when they start to wilt!
Set up areas for organization. Have a key rack hung up so that you aren't searching for lost keys all the time. Find an aesthetically pleasing basket of some sort to keep mail that still needs to be sorted in.
Make sure every little thing in your house has it's own home.
Lastly, save the environment and the stress of high electric bills by unplugging all of your electronics when they are not in use.
