The Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme comes in a terra cotta colored bottle with a black pump and it has a faded green label and it looks exactly like the WEN Cleansing Conditioner only smaller. A 6oz bottle costs $24.
The WEN information booklet that came with my order claimed that the WEN Styling Creme can work as a leave-in conditioner, polishing gloss, and gel. And that it "works great on straight, wavy, and curly hair types to give them rich moisture, gleaming shine, and body with hold. The virtually weightless formula is used as a heat-protectant from damage caused by styling tools, and also to tame hair from frizz when drying naturally."
I have a kinky and coarse texture so I followed the directions for my hair type and after cleansing with the WEN Lavender Cleansing Conditioner I applied a few pumps of it as a leave-in conditioner along with some of WEN oils.
Next I applied the WEN Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme with more oil as an additional leave-in conditioner. It smelled great it has a cherry almond scent that reminds me of a Jergen's lotion I used once.
It has a richer and thicker texture than the cleansing conditioner, but it's water-based so it was still very light. I only needed to use a couple of pumps for my entire head and as soon as I applied it my hair felt a lot smoother. Any frizz that was still in my hair after using the cleansing conditioner disappeared completely after I used the Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme.
The WEN Creme also made my tresses feel extremely soft and hydrated (although my hair still needed the oils to feel completely moisturized) and the Sweet Almond Mint made it more manageable because I was able to detangle my strands very easily.
I found that the Styling Creme gave my hair a light hold, but I wouldn't throw out my gel anytime soon because it wasn't strong enough to really hold down my thick locks.
In The End...
I really liked The WEN Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme when I used it in conjunction with a WEN Cleansing Conditioner. It gave my coarse dry strands an extra boost of moisture, made them softer, way more manageable, and helped to reduce frizz.
I really liked the way my hair felt after using it but it didn't make a huge difference in the way my kinky texture looked when I air-dried it. But I really want to use this creme when I blow-out my locks because I think the results would be more dramatic. I'm sure it would make my hair look really smooth and shiny.
However I wouldn't buy this product unless I was going to use it along with the WEN Cleansing Conditioners, because when I used it on freshly shampooed hair it wasn't as effective or I probably would've had to use a lot of it in order to get the same moisturizing and smoothing effects.
Overall though, I think the Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme is a good addition if you're using the WEN cleansers. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
