Wendy has impacted us in many ways, not just with her News stories, and input into our daily lives. Wendy is a survivor of Stage 2 breast Cancer. She was diagnosed with it, in 2001. After surviving this life threatening event, Wendy now promises to make more of a difference with her life, by conquering life's challenges and living a strong life.
Wendy, who was born in Oxford, California, grew up mainly in Silver Springs, MD. That is where she went to College, and furthered her education at Indiana University, located in Bloomington, Indiana.
Wendy is moving out of Orlando, and out of the Anchor business. She has intentions of moving to Utah, claiming to open a cycle training facility. The announcement NBC's WESH 2 News made, stated she would be leaving on May 21st, 2008. And trust me, when I say, she will be missed by many.
Having this reliable source enter our living rooms daily, helps to make you feel safer. She knows what it is like here in Florida, and she can dictate the news more effectively then most any Anchor Woman I personally have ever watched or listened to. Her words are effective, and well enunciated. She has no problems making you feel like you are right there, in the action with her. I feel that her leaving NBC's WESH 2 news will be greatly affected by both her Associates, as well us, her viewers, and most of all- her fans.
Obviously the Emmy Awards, also feels she is worth while, as they awarded her an Award, along with NBC's WESH 2 news for the NBC Special report titled: "A Heroin Emergency." However, Wendy feels that her best work, was done when she covered the Popes visit to Cuba in 1998, along with several other stories, including the Hurricanes of last year.
As you may have already guessed, by what it is that Wendy has decided to do with her life, Wendy is a very active and healthy person. She has ran many of marathons, participated in many fund raisers, as well as Triathlons. What else you may not have known about Wendy is that she believes in being active in her own Community. She doesn't feel that she is a famous star, and want treated as such. In fact, Wendy is an Officer in the Board of Canine Companions for Independence, which is an agency that provides service dogs for the disabled.
So for those of you, who have let Wendy Chioji into your living rooms for all these years, now it is time to adjust to someone else, and hope that they are just as informative. And to Wendy, we wish only the best for you, and you will be deeply missed. We do hope that you will drop back by from time to time! Thank you for many wonderful and dedicated years of service Wendy! We wish only the best for you, in your future endeavors!
