Wendy's 60th Anniversary Celebration Discounted Menu is a Hoax
No Wendy's Restaurant Locations Will Be Celebrating a 60th Anniversay on October 22nd
"There is an email on the internet stating that Wendy's restaurants are offering discounted food in honor of a 60th anniversary. This is a fake email by individuals creating a scam. First of all, Wendy's is only 39 years old, and does not offer coupons on the internet."
Wendy's 60th Anniversary Hoax Sinks Website
The email has been circulating for days, and has received so much attention that the official Wendy's Restaurant website was unresponsive and sluggish on October 22nd, the date mentioned in the email as the date of Wendy's 60th anniversary celebration. The lack of access to the official Wendy's website could only exacerbate the situation as people cannot go to the official source to determine whether the email they have received about Wendy's 25 cent hamburger is genuine.
Email Misrepresents Wendy's Menu Prices
According to the website urbanlegends.com, the hoax email read offers Wendy's menu items at the following prices "All hamburgers will be sold for 25 cents, Cheeseburgers 30 cents, Fries 15 cents, and drinks are 10 cents!!!" Furthermore, the site claims, the same hoax is being perpetrated with In-N-Out Burger for the very same day.
In-N-Out Burger in Same Boat as Wendy's Restaurants
In-N-Out Burger responded to the anniversary celebration hoax emails with this statement "You may be aware of a rumor about our menu prices being lowered for our anniversary on October 22nd. This rumor is untrue. We've always tried to keep our prices as low as possible in order to give our customers the greatest value. One of the ways we accomplish this is by not discounting and our anniversary is no exception."
There is no Wendy's 60th Anniversary Celebration Discounted Menu
Neither in-N-Out Burger nor Wendy's Restaurant locations will be offering a special 60th anniversary discount on October 22nd, despite any emails you may have received to the contrary. Even news reporters have been fooled by the Wendy's Restaurant 60th Anniversary celebration hoax; the Fredricksburg, Virginia, Free-Lance Star, even had to print a retraction after reporting the discount. If you fell for the hoax, you are not alone, but you're not getting a discount off the Wendy's menu price either.
