Wendy's New Bacon and Blue Hamburger

Saturday I had the opportunity to taste blue cheese for the first time ever. Growing up we had blue cheese dressing in the house all the time. However, I was the picky eater in my family and the thought of cheese being blue grossed me out to no end.

But when I pulled into the Wendy's parking lot I saw their sign for their new Bacon and Blue Hamburger. Below it stated that the Blue was blue cheese. I was intrigued with the idea of bacon and blue cheese. Once at the drive-thru ordering menu I couldn't find anything I wanted more than the Bacon and Blue. So, I ordered it.

The service was speedy and I was on my way in a very good amount of time. Along with my hamburger I ordered a sprite. I pulled out and realized no straw. Needing to get home, I told myself that I didn't need a straw. I would manage without one. I also told myself that this would be a great opportunity to tell the people that read this article; and I am sure most if not all of you do this already; to make sure you have everything in the bag that you need before pulling away from the window.

Driving very carefully down the street away from Wendy's I proceeded to open the burger to get my first look at what I hoped was a yummy combination. I didn't realize at the time that blue cheese comes in chunks(good chunks!); so when I opened it out fell a couple pieces.

My first impression, before taking a bite, was that this was going to be messy. I took that first bite and the flavors all came together. They were amazing. It was so yummy.

Another thing I noticed through all the yummy goodness was how salty it was. Along with growing up is a house with blue cheese dressing, my siblings and I grew up in a low sodium household; for health reasons. Now as an adult I can taste when there is mega salt in everything I eat. Will this deter me from chowing down on another Bacon and Blue Hamburger? No way! But I will wait a little while in between purchasing one; for health reasons of course!

Wendy's has turned out another great item on their menu and I hope this one lasts longer than a month; the normal promotional time for new items. This one is a hit. Don't take my word for it. If you like blue cheese and if you like bacon you'll find a hit with Wendy's new Bacon and Blue Hamburger!
