Were it Ever Thus?

Were it ever thus? Did she not realize what would occur in such a situation? Grasping shafts of light, scattering wanton photons, depths of the power of the sun had streamed mightily for millions of miles, only to be snatched from their blazen path.

Did she fear? Nay, not one wit; for within her soul rang forth a magnificent power. A power that in an instant could snuff out all life on the blue planet. A power that could bring to life a supernova. A power to render hearts asunder. A power unlike any other; indeed, entire galaxies would by natural force bow down to it. Stars would sing a new song and enthrong all of space, time, and dimension because she had come into being.

An eternity passed as naught; infinity drew into itself. She was there, surpassing it all. At once, she was the universe. At once, the universe held her. Love as uttered by mere humans was but a dim spark in massive cold, that of absolute zero.

And then she took my hand...
