West Coast Sleepers Dominate Fantasy Football
The NFC and AFC West Players Are Primed for Big Seasons
As we get closer and closer to draft day, everyone is looking for those mid round draft picks that make your break your fantasy franchise. Fantasy football season starts in just a couple weeks and it's time to get those draft boards sorted. Sleepers can turn your lose fantasy franchise into a championship team and these are some of the picks that can do that for you. If you haven't looked at these players for your team yet, you should start.
- Michael Bush, Raiders - With a new quarterback leading the pack in Oakland, the Raiders might actually have a bit of a passing game this year. Because of this teams won't be able to simply load the box when playing them which free's up some yards on the ground. When you're playing the NFC west and the AFC west twice, even with the Raiders offensive line, you're going to put up numbers. With Darren McFadden as injury prone as he is and Michael Bush prepped to put up some big fantasy numbers this is a mid round pick with an enormous amount of fantasy upside.
- Darren Sproles, Chargers - L.T. who? There's a new superstar in San Diego and everyone is expecting him to be a fantasy stud. First round draft picks though are notorious for not performing as expected due to a number of unpredictable factors. If this is the case with Matthews than Sproles could be in line to put up some big numbers. Look at Sproles numbers over the last two seasons backing up Tomlinson and you'll see what he might possibly accomplish as a featured back. Even if he doesn't get a chance to replace Matthews then he will still be a valuable flex or bye week player that plays a lot of soft defenses this year.
- Eddie Royal, Broncos - Do we see a theme this year? The west based teams are primed for big fantasy years and few more-so than Eddie Royal. If you watched the first Broncos preseason game you saw the amount of spread offense they ran. A lot of this is probably due to their running back injury problems, but don't overlook this. There is a new offense in Denver and with the number of soft defenses they play the Broncos will put up some passing yards. Oh, in case ya didn't know, Brandon Marshall is livin' it up in Florida with some fish, so it's Royals show to put on.
- Zach Miller, Raiders - Ok, so I'm going to change the title of this article to something having to do with NFC and AFC west teams. Have I mentioned that Jason Campbell is in Oakland now? While I don't think he's going to transform them into a top-5 passing offense, he will improve their passing numbers. Miller has been an absolute fantasy football beast the past two seasons and Jason Campbell will only improve that. The tight end position is deep this year and this is one of the reasons. You can pick him up in the middle or late rounds in most drafts and don't have to overreach for a tight end. He could be a top-3 tight end this year, his upside is that big.
Your middle and late round picks often determine if you win your fantasy league. Picking well hidden sleepers like these can turn your losing NFL franchise into a powerhouse. Following these tips and the tips in my other articles will get you prepared for your fantasy football season. Good luck at your draft!
