West Glen Falls: Historic Hotels

Nina Nixon
Located in upstate New York, with a population of a little over 14,000, West Glen Falls beacons travelers on business and for leisure. Visitors can experience the calmness of elegant simplicity of West Glen Falls when they choose to stay in an historic hotel. The three historic hotels highlighted below feature elegant simplicity with the amenities of modern times.

1. The Queensbury Hotel (518) 321-5043

The Queensbury Hotel is located at 88 Ridge Street in Glen Falls, New York. It is truly a landmark hotel, as it was built in the early 1920's. [1] With five floors, it is situated in the heart of downtown for the convenience of business travelers and vacationers alike. This Victorian hotel has been somewhat upgraded with amenities that fit in with today's times. Increasing the value of your stay are spacious rooms with internet access, an indoor pool, and spa offerings such as facials and massage. The Queensbury is within 15 minutes of two favorite destinations: Saratoga Springs and Lake George. It is also within a short distance to the Adirondack Mountains. One vacationer commented, "Those interested in the arts might especially be drawn to this hotel" and "It's a lovely place to stay, with clean comfortable beds, and a very helpful staff."[2] Check for room rates, since they do change frequently. Additionally, they may have special deals that you may want to know about prior to making your reservations.

2. The Glen Falls Inn (646) 824-8379

Winner of the 2005 Best-in-Room Amenities Award, The Glen Falls Inn is located at 25 Sherman Avenue, Glen Falls, New York. Restored in 1999, this 19th century country inn offers visitors a choice of one of the five lovely themed guest rooms: The Garden Room, The French Room, The Captain's Quarters, The Saratoga Room and The Adirondack Room. Each room is equipped with a queen size bed and air conditioning. Should you desire larger accommodations, The Top of The Apartment Suite complete with fireplace and a full size kitchen may be available for your stay.

In the morning, a refreshing Continental Breakfast of freshly baked croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice and coffee is served. After breakfast, you may want to take a tour of the historical 1880's carriage house directly behind the inn.

3. The Manor Inn (518) 793 - 2699

Located at 514 Glen Street, this stately two-story 1920's Victorian, The Manor Inn invokes a home-away-from-home sensation amongst travelers. Each room is exquisitely decorated to maintain the elegance and style of the 1920 Victorian era. The ceiling fan is a pleasant feature of The Mahogany Room and is just one of the amenities vacationers can expect. The Black and White Room is elegant with a crisp, stately décor. The Patriot Room is suitable for children, as it contains two twin beds.

The food menu items are purchased separately and feature a picnic lunch offering with your choice of home-cooked delicacies such as Roasted Chicken, Turkey Cranberry, or Classic Reuben[3] just to name a few. And you will thoroughly enjoy the home-cooked breakfast at the Manor Inn.

Glen Falls Park is rich in theatrical history. So, while you are there, you may want to visit other historical buildings such as The Glen Falls Park Theater[4], which was built in 1911 and The Chapman Historical Museum[5], which was built at the beginning of the 20th century.

For those who appreciate a balance of history, art and timeless elegance in a hotel, this one's for you. No need to look any further. West Glen Falls is calling.
