Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Arizona Shooting Funerals

Aida Ekberg
The Westboro Baptist Church is going to protest the funerals of victims of the Arizona shooting. Words cannot even describe how disgusting the Westboro Baptist Church is for this.

According to the Huffington Post, the Westboro Baptist Church, one of the scummiest organizations in America, is planning on protesting the funerals of the six victims killed by Jared Loughner in the recent Arizona shooting that sent shockwaves across America. And so the Westboro Baptist Church takes one vile action and twists into something even worse.

In addition to planning to protest the funerals of the Arizona shooting victims, the Westboro Baptist Church has posted a flier on its website condoning shooter Jared Loughner for killing six, and from the group's convoluted message (which is even crazier than most of Jared Loughner's YouTube ramblings), it seems that the WBC believes that the shooting is punishment for the nation (government bodies in particular) trying to "silence our kind warning to obey God and flee the wrath to come."

The announcement goes on to state that God is laughing about this tragic event, and the WBC attacks Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford, who is fighting for her life as I write this, by calling her a baby killer and using homophobic slurs. The whole WBC post is just almost too sick and disgusting to read.

But, oddly enough, the Westboro Baptist Church might be applauding an atheist for carrying out what they are calling an act of God. In one of Jared Loughner's YouTube rants, he states that he was given a mini Bible before taking his military eligibility test. Afterward, he didn't fill in a religious belief on his Army application.

An acquaintance also describes him as not "too keen on religion", and in another YouTube rant, Jared Loughner proclaims that "No! I won't trust in God!" (It's also possible that religion came into play with Jared Loughner's targeting of Jewish Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords).

Now, don't get me wrong; as an atheist myself, there's no way that I'm claiming that Jared Loughner's religion (or lack thereof) had anything to do with him going on this tragic shooting rampage. I'm simply pointing out that it could be considered blasphemous to many Christians (in more ways than one) that the WBC is applauding a possible atheist for acting as the arm of God.

If the members of the WBC were true, caring Christians like so many out there, shouldn't they be praying for those involved in this senseless act of violence? It's extremely saddening to see Americans killing and applauding killers, but I try to take comfort in hoping that there are those that will see this incident as a reason to try and make peace and come together, instead of letting all this ugliness continue.

If these heartless a-holes have the right to picket, at a FUNERAL, for God's sake... then the police should have the right to form a line and dare them to cross it.

i think everyone of the church members should be locked in their church and the damn place set on fire.

WHY are these people, and I use the term loosely, allowed to have this "church of hatred?" I'd like to see them all run out of this country, they're evil beyond words! Just who is this god they worship? Certainly NOT the God that I worship, they spew words and acts of hatred and violence, this is beyond belief and intolerable. This cannot continue, it's not blasphemous enough that they think they have the right to picket at our soldiers' funerals, this new publicity stunt just sickens me! Let these people properly mourn the deaths of their loved ones, you morons, and either shut your evil mouths, or leave my country. Your "satan-loving beliefs" are not welcome here, your day of reckoning will come when you have to answer to the true God,

Just lock them up and make them learn all about what is going on in the world from their jail cell, where they cannot issue one syllable to the public about it. It will drive them insane.

I think that these people should remember who has fought for their right to be ignorrant, raving, lunatics. The anti-christ won't be one person; it will be those that seek to undermine the faith of all people by taking positions of leadership and brainwashing those that follow them. Is it really neccessary to picket an innocent childs funeral? When this "preacher" dies rest assured I will make every effort to be at his funeral and piss on his grave.
