I have learned a lot of things when it comes to building a home studio. I've taken the time to start off small and learn to upgrade my features along the way. I had been working on a project and couldn't figure out why once I got to a certain number of tracks, I was getting crackling, and hiccups along my recordings.

I went from thinking about buying a new computer and just using my Toshiba as my work Laptop. But this was before I found out that I had a dual core processor in my Toshiba. See, I have learned that using a dual core processor will be you better recordings. Well it will make your recording sessions run a lot smoother.

Now that I realized that I had a dual core processor the whole entire time, I'm wondering what the heck is going on, why am I getting . Crackling and popping? I finally ran into my wonderful friend at the Guitar center, Bobice. He explained to me that when your processor is working over time, trying to figure out where to put your huge music files; you're going to get static, crackling and popping. The thing for me to do was to buy the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N for $160. By me buying the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N, I would be able to store my huge music files on the external hard while keeping my Toshiba free to complete it's task smoothly.

When I bought the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N I was a bit confused. I looked for simple direction to walk you through but couldn't find any. I got the instructions on how to set it up but physically setting it up has nothing to do with configuring it to your computer. I think If I would have had a Mac, it would have been hands down , easy to configure. But since the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N was created for the Mac but compatible with Windows XP/Vista. I ended up having to do some extra work.

I tried asking this guy who works for Mr.Wu's computer place to walk me through it. I figured since he claimed to have his own personal studio, he would be able to help me set it up. Well, he didn't call back but by the time I realized he wasn't going to call back, I had already figured out how to configure the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N to my Toshiba so it could actually recognize the device. I really didn't appreciate the fact that there wasn't walk through instructions in the box. I had to go online just to find them.

The thing I Can say I like about the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N is that you can acess all your files through USB. I thought this was a neat feature because that's pretty much the only option I have.

I also like the fact that the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N reads as if it's actually located inside my computer. I thought this feature was funky neat.

The Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N has a quad interface that's give you the speed like a state of the art hard drive. The funky thing about the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N is that they are small enough to collect and put on book shelves. I'm not sure how many I'm gong to collect at $160 a pop but I'm sure I will invest in a few over time.

The Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N turns it's self on and off with your computer.

The bottom line with is that if you are looking attempting to edit videos, large project files, photo shoots of some kind then the Speed is what you need for video editing, big design projects, or managing photo shoots then you might want to use the Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA External Hard Drive WDH1Q5000N .
