WASHINGTON TWP. - Nationally recognized independent journalist and entertainer Gery L. Deer will be performing his award-winning whip artistry with two shows at HomeFest during the 2009 New Home Questival from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday June 20.

The New Home Questival is a new event organized by the Home Builders Association of Dayton (HBA) to showcase new home construction in the Miami Valley. The festival takes place simultaneously at two conveniently located communities over two weekends, June 19-21 and 27-28.

Located in Washington Township on Clyo Road just south of Spring Valley Road, HomeFest will showcase single family homes. CondoFest will be held at Soraya Farms and highlight condominiums and patio homes. The Soraya Farms development is located in Clearcreek Township in Warren County on State Route 48 between Social Row Road and Lytle Five Points Road.

Gery L. Deer has been a teaching and performing whip artist for more than 20 years. With multiple, whip national speed and accuracy competition titles under his belt, he is best known locally as a multi-faceted entertainer, independent journalist and keynote speaker.

Deer has appeared on nationally-televised programs like The Bonnie Hunt Show and was a featured performer in a special segment during the first season of NBC's America's Got Talent. In 2007, he received the honor of induction to the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame as Wild West Performer of the Year and coordinates the Annie Oakley Western Arts Showcase western arts convention in Greenville, taking place July 23-26 this year.

The Western-themed whip artistry performances will take place at HomeFest, located at the Trails of Saddle Creek in Washington Township. Deer's performance is provided by GLD Enterprises & Productions and The Whip Artistry Studio of Jamestown, Ohio. In addition to live entertainment, food vendors and exhibitors, many other family-friendly activities are on the schedule of events.

The Miami Valley Restaurant Association's Chef Quest Challenge will be going on at HomeFest as well as a presentation of "Wild Life Comes to You," by the Cincinnati Zoo. Pony rides and the All American PetFest, presented by the Humane Society of Greater Dayton will also be there along with a cruise-in by local custom and classic car clubs.

HomeFest the will be located in Washington Township at the Trails of SaddleCreek on Clyo Road just south of Spring Valley Road. HomeFest will feature an equestrian-themed master planned community consisting of single family homes from a number of previous Homearama builders.

Past Cincinnati Homearama developer Great Traditions Land and Development is the developer of Trails of SaddleCreek. Other participating builders include M.J. Coates Homes, JM Dungan Custom Homes, R.A. Rhoads, Inc., Tera Builders, Zicka Walker Homes.

The New Home Questival is presented by the Home Builders Association of Dayton in partnership with the Dayton Daily News, WHIO-TV, WMMX 107.7, LITE 99.9, Lexus of Dayton, Humane Society of Greater Dayton and the Miami Valley Restaurant Association.
