Westfield State University sits on over 300 acres that are nestled in an upscale neighborhood, which has a mixture of older homes, once referred to as "estates" along with newer, more modern homes that constitute what one would call "a nice neighborhood." This location is an asset to the university, which many Ivy League colleges cannot claim.

This Westfield Massachusetts university is as safe environment as one could get from a college campus. When parents first visit this campus with their kids, this is one of the first visual that help ease the tensions of their young adult going off to college.

Although the campus is teaming with young adults and the dorms are filled with kids, who for the first time are away from home, parents can sometimes feel apprehensive about the first time their child is away from home.

Westfield Massachusetts, is a small city, in which you can walk from one side of the down town area from one end to another in less than 10 minutes.

The community welcomes the college kids each fall, evident with the banners and signs outside local businesses. The city dwellers are use to their population growing by 5,000 or so for nine months of the year.

Crime across the board in Westfield is lower than Massachusetts average according to the statistical site of ID Cide. In fact the violent crime is down 30 % from ten years ago in the city. Westfield State University has it's own campus police, who are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They work in tandem with the City of Westfield's police department when the rare occasion calls for it.

The set-up of the campus itself promotes safety for all the students as well as faculty. The buildings surround a large center open park like court yard, which is well light and patrolled after dark. The college campus offers no dark alleys or out of the way buildings, everything is out in the open with no dark and desolate spots that could promote crime.

Once on the campus of Westfield State University, you can get a feel for the community, which is friendly and helpful. The college takes care to make sure each and every student feels welcome. The health of the students is also monitored with the college health clinic which is on the campus. It is staffed with a doctor and nurses who can address much of the health issues a primary care doctor does.

The Noble hospital is a mile away from the campus and it is a full service hospital with a 24 hour emergency room. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Massachusetts, which makes it a top notch regional health care facility.

Westfield State University offers everything in safety a parent could possibly ask for when sending their kids off to college. All this safety and a top notch education is why Westfield State University is a good choice for your young adult going off to college.
