Westward IV 4 Walkthrough Tips Hints Tricks

If you have played Westward 3, you will be able to play part four very easily. A few things have changed, but the game is still the same and offers days of fun and strategy. I'm writing this walkthrough from memory, so let me know if I have forgotten something or if you need help in a certain area that I neglected to write about.

TURNER RAILROAD - UP & RUNNING

Archaeological Discovery

Walk over to the right of the screen and talk to the man who is digging a hole. He will tell you about the hidden objects that can be found throughout the different levels as you play.

A good trick in making sure that you collect all of the hidden object fossils is to finish the challenge. A screen will pop up and give you all of your stats for that round. Look at the part that tells you how many hidden objects you have found and how many were hidden in the challenge. You will save yourself the headache of looking all over for the fossil in a level that does not have any. Or it can help you to realize that a level has 2 or 3 fossils instead of one.

Fur Trader

A woman will ask you for help in getting different animal pelts. She wants rats, rabbits, deer, wolves and then 5 bear pelts. This quest sounds simply enough but many Westward 4 players have become increasingly frustrated as they can never seem to find enough of the animal that they are looking for. The fix is simple.

Only a specific amount of animals can be found in the game at the same time. If you need rats but you only see rabbits, shoot all of the rabbits and deer until you see rats begin to appear. Do this with all of the animals you do not need for that quest. However, avoid killing the bears because they are hard to find and you need 5 of them to end the Fur Trader quest.

Bake Off

A woman will make a request for you to show her how good your crops are, after that you will have to build her a bakery and she stay in town to bake pies. However, she can only bake the pies if you have bought seeds and planted some trees to keep the lumber mill going. In between the tree seeds, you will find apple seeds. Once your wood workers have cut down the apple trees, the fruits will drop onto the ground. Pick up the apples and the baker will start to make fresh apple pies.

Fishing Club

Build a fishing dock on the side of the stream that has 3 or more fish swimming in a circle. These fish can only be caught with the dock. The dock will also give you valuable extra's when your fishermen find crates in the river. These crates can provide food, coal, weapons, tools and dynamite. However, you should only use the fishing dock for a short time. After a while the river will have no fish left and you will have to wait a bit for the fish to return.

Joe Jack Jebediah Jr.

Joe shows up in town and wants you to give him the perfect job. Through trial and error Joe will be employed and quit one job after another until you get it right. He will tell you that a certain job is not for him, but after a while he will begin to drop hints. Such as he wants to work with animals, however the animals are not alive. This means that he wants to be a butcher. Create a butcher shop and employ Joe.

Tree House Help

When you come across a man who has a tree covering his home, he will request your help. Buy dynamite, place it next to the tree and blow it up.

A Fish's Treasure

On the bottom of the screen on the right side of the river, you will see some boulders. Blow them up and a hole will appear. Move the character to the hole and they will jump in and reappear in the river. Move the character straight up the river until they come to a circular pond with on fish swimming in it. Fish in that pond and they will eventually find a weird fish key. Next to the pond you will see an old wagon. Chop up the wagon to the find the treasure chest that goes with the fish key.

Town Thief

To find the thief, find the deputy that has been given the task of arresting the suspect. Make sure that the deputy has full health before he begins the task. The game assigns a random location to search for the thief. Sometimes he may have to look in a home or in a food storage area. Drag the deputy onto the locations and he will eventually find the thief. Kill the thief and this quest will be complete.

Buffalo Rustler

The buffalo can be found in the top left in a pen surrounded by bandits. Kill the bandits and then click on the buffalo, lead him to the man who has a herd of buffalo's next to him.

A Dog's Treasure

On the left side of the river towards the bottom of the screen, you will find a rock that has three trees around it. Blow up the rock, dig in that area and a chest will appear. To unlock the chest you will have to drag a dog onto it. The dog will walk to an area and show you a dig spot. Once you dig, you will not find the key. The dog should lead you to another hole to dig. If it does not lead you to another area, look at the top of your screen by the rail road station to see if another dog has appeared in town. Take that new dog and drag it on the chest. Some people only need two dogs to find the key, others may need three dogs. The dogs appear on their own and you just have to wait for them to show up in town.

A Rat's Treasure

On the right side of the river you will see a rock formation that has a little opening on the end. If you have a working ranch with cows, you should have cheese in front of it. Take the cheese to the hole and drop it. The rat will come out and eat it. Take two more pieces of cheese and the rat will eat both of them. After the 3rd piece of cheese the rat will be too big to go back into the hole and you will now have control of it.

Below this area you should see a walkway that has two large circles on either side. To the right of this walkway will be a tree. Blow up the tree and dig to find the rat's treasure chest. Drag the rat onto it to open the chest.

Kidnapped Sibling

Build a clothing store and drag 3 deputies onto the store to have them wear the clothes of the workers. Only deputies, not bounty hunters. Move the hero and the deputies in front of the locked door and the bandits will open it and come out.
