Weszty Golf Double - U Irons Review

Good Looks, Good Price!

MikeBabjak
Last season I ran across a new golf equipment company while searching the internet for something new. What I found was not only a company with some fresh equipment, but one that made very good clubs as well.

Weszty Golf currently has 3 irons in their lineup. I will be reviewing the Double-U Iron today.

The Weszty Golf Double-U iron features a very forgiving cast "double undercut" head that puts extra mass on both sides of the club head for maximum forgiveness, while extra mass behind the sweet spot gives a very pleasing feel for shots struck on the center of the face. The best feature of all is that this club head will appeal to many golfers from mid handicap to scratch players.

It has a midsize head with minimal offset that creates not only a look that most golfers prefer, but allows for the player to still be able to work the ball and shape shots as needed. Most of your irons in the game improvement category simply make it too difficult to be able to hit a draw or fade when needed.

I began hitting this set as a demo 5 iron head, and after only a few balls I had to see how the rest of the set would perform! The looks, are amazing, and the fact that the extra mass behind the center of the clubface is there, gives this iron a feel like no other. I am a typical high ball flight player, and while these clubs are very easy to get airborne, I noticed I was hitting a little bit more of a piercing trajectory, after a high initial launch. This stronger ball flight gives me a little more distance, but is also great while playing in the wind, as well as not having to worry about the ball ballooning and falling out of the sky too soon.

Working the ball is a breeze with the Double-U irons as well. High, Low, Draw, or Fade, you can do it all due to the midsize head and minimal offset. The weight seems to be placed perfectly as shots to the heel or toe area still yield good results. Overall this is a great looking set that is very playable to all types of golfers.

All this for a set around $350.00 with custom fitting makes the Weszty Golf Double-U irons worth a try!

I'll be reviewing their blade model in my next review! Stay Tuned!
