Chasing after leaves is a chore. Dry leaves tend to blow around. It may seem windy on your only day off, and so you nix dry leaves raking for the day. Instead of putting dry leaves raking aside, you could plan your strategy. Dry leaves raking could be done on the less windy side of the house. Rake dry leaves into a small pile then bag. Rake up another section then bag the dry leaves. You can rake dry leaves into small piles and run them over with your lawn mower. Wet leaves raking can be a slimy job. It's best to wet rake leaves as the morning dew settles on them. Wet leaves raking shouldn't be confused with raking leaves that are floating in puddles! Wet leaves raking should be accomplished after a rain. Not a flooding storm. Wet leaves raking requires gardening gloves made of water resistance material. Rubber gloves work best. They will protect your hands as you scoop up the wet leaves to bag. Wet leaves don't blow around. Wet leaves stay put making it easier to collect them.
Wet leaves raking makes your bags and cans heavy to transport. Wet leaves also takes up more space. You can't run wet leaves over with your lawn mower. You can add wet leaves to the compost pile. You can still use a fan rake for wet leaves raking. Wet leaves can be slimy and smelly. If you must rake wet leaves be sure to have extra containers, they don't compact as well as dry leaves do. No excuses, leaves can be raked wet or dry, it's your choice which is best.
