Wet-N-Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow in Lust: Product Review

Lust is Perfect for Smokey Eyes

Lisa White ISSA & AFPA CPT
Eye-shadow is one of my favorite makeup choices and I have dozens of colors in creams, powders and sticks in mattes and pigmented shades. Each season's trends will send me into a spiral to find an affordable yet stunning choice of eye shadow that I can use to create some of the styles I prefer to wear. Luckily, this year purple and bronze colors are two of the leading tones and I could not have been more pleased. Purple and bronze eye shadow plays up my dark brown eyes and I found just the right shades with Wet-N-Wild Color Icon Eye Shadows in Lust and Vanity. Throughout the years the only other item I have ever purchased that was a Wet-N-Wild product was lip gloss so this was a stretch for me but here is my review of the Lust palette.

Collection

The Color Icon series is the new line from Wet-N-Wild. The colors are vibrant and the packaging has been updated into a much sleeker version. Lust includes six shades of purple; three of which are matte textures and the other three are "pigmented affects" shades. The pigmented affects tones are richer and deeper with shimmer. The shades can be worn in the lighter matte shades for day wear and the richer tones create a good evening style. Mixing the shades also also brings about good colors for the makeup style you prefer.

My Uses

The lust is dark and I was interested to see how the shades could be used to create smokey styles. Although it was a pleasant surprise; it was still a surprise none-the-less when I applied the darkest pigmented affects shade on the crease of my eye and found it to be nearly black with hints of purple shimmer. I used the two lighter matte shades for the base of my eyelids and brow bone.

The Color Icon shade is so dark that it doesn't need black eyeliner to bring about smokey eyes. The eye shadow can be used along the lash line and in the crease to create a very deep smokey look. The matte palette is good for layering on the eyelid to give the purple tones additional depth.

Removal

Much like any other eye shadow I did not find it difficult to remove. I used my everyday cleanser and warm water to wash it off and did not have to use eye makeup remover.

Cost

The price of the Wet-N-Wild Color Icon eye shadow palette is $5 to $6 at several different retailers including Wal-Greens, Wal-Mart and Target.
