Wettest Weather Cities in the United States

These are the ten cities in the United States with the highest annual average rain totals. Despite the high rain totals many of the cities on this list are very popular tourist destinations and one place is famous as the home of vampires in the Twilight series. Almost all of these wettest weather cities have one thing in common. They are almost all located along of near a coast and ocean and some of the best beaches in the United States are near these cities.

1) Hilo, Hawaii - 128 inches of annual average rain

Hilo, Hawaii located on the east coast of the Big Island of Hawaii is the wettest weather city in the United States with an annual average rain total of 128 inches. Despite all the rain Hilo is a big tourist city in Hawaii filled with great hotels and restaurants and many popular tourist attractions. Hilo is also the second largest population city in Hawaii after Honolulu.

2) Forks, Washington - 104.5 inches

Forks, Washington is located in the upper northwestern corner of the state between the Pacific Ocean and Olympic National Park and is the 2nd wettest weather city in the United States. Forks is famous as the setting for the Twilight series of books and movies and the town has seen an enormous increase in tourists and visitors coming to the town. Though none of the movies were actually filmed in Forks tours are available in the town to places that were used as the basis for places in the Twilight books and movies.

3) Astoria, Oregon - 69.6 inches

Astoria, Oregon is the 3rd wettest city in the United States with average annual rain totals of 69.6 inches. Located along the south shore of the Columbia River near where the river empties into the Pacific Ocean Astoria is a gateway city into the beautiful Columbia River Gorge which is a popular tourist destination in the Pacific Northwest.

4) Blue Canyon, California - 67.87 inches

Blue Canyon, California is located just south of Route 80 in the western part of Northern California about 80 miles east of the California-Nevada border and 50 east of Lake Tahoe and its casinos, hotels and restaurants.

5) Mobile, Alabama - 64.64 inches

Mobile, Alabama gets 64.64 inches of annual rain per year which makes it the 5th wettest weather city in the United States. Mobile is located where the Mobile River opens up and flows into Mobile Bay before entering the Gulf of Mexico. Many tourists and visitors travel to Mobile to see the wonderful and historic antebellum architecture on display all over the city.

6) Tallahassee, Florida - 64.59 inches

Tallahassee is the capital city of Florida located in the panhandle where it receives 64.59 inches of annual rain.

7) Pensacola, Florida - 61.16 inches

Pensacola is the westernmost city located in the Florida Panhandle that is famous for its beautiful white sand beaches including Pensacola Beach which attracts visitors and tourists to Pensacola throughout the year. The wet annual weather in Pensacola does not keep anybody away from the gorgeous beaches and hotel resorts located in the area.

8) New Orleans, Louisiana - 60.72 inches

Despite being the 8th wettest weather city in the United States with 60.72 inches of yearly rain on average New Orleans is one of the most visited tourist cities in the country especially during Mardi Gras.

9) West Palm Beach, Florida - 59.72 inches

Located along the southeast coast of Florida along the Atlantic Ocean is the 9th wettest city in the country West Palm Beach. The wet weather does not deter many people from living in or traveling to West Palm Beach especially in the winter when the snow birds head south to Florida to escape winter.

10) Miami, Florida - 59.55 inches

Miami is located less than 100 miles south of West Palm Beach along the Atlantic Ocean in southern Florida and is another wet weather city located near beautiful beaches that is a popular tourist resort city. It rains heavily in Miami at times but that does not seem to bother the millions of people living in the beautiful city or the visitors to Miami who keep the city's hotels full.
