We've Saved Each Other's Lives

They're Man's Best Friend for a Reason

Bee

You came into my life at such a hectic time;
I wasn't sure if I could handle the responsibility.
Slowly you taught me of something I was unaware,
That I had enough compassion, love, and ability

You've been with me now, right by my side.
We've tried to teach you all of the good and bad.
There's not another in the world like you;
Looking into that face, I could never stay mad.

You've changed my life in so many ways,
I'd never let you become a waif.
You make me awe at your adorable face;
I want to be a better person just to keep you safe.

I was given the chance to be a father,
I don't care what anyone has to say.
Having you is just like having a child,
I remember getting you in the month of May.

I will not let you go hungry;
I refuse to let you feel pain.
With your love in my life,
There are momentous moments I will gain.

You've been teaching me
As much as I have taught you.
But I'll never be one of those owners
That puts you in a tutu.

You're a loving companion;
I now know why you're man's best friend.
I always have a smile on my face
Everyday I see you, again and again.

Writing is a window, an escape. It's the one thing that can take something apart, while simultaneously putting it together. It's a passion, an awakening, and something to keep motivation flowing.  View profile
