WHALE SHARK DIES ATLANTA

Norton, one of Georgia Aquarium's first Whale Sharks died early Wednesday morning.

It is reported that Norton stopped eating and began to swim in erratic patterns in the months leading to his death. Although diagnostic tests and supplemental care were provided, it was not enough to save the shark.

On Tuesday the Aquarium staff recognized Norton's rapid decline in health. He was then placed on 24 hour care. Soon after, Norton rested at the tank's floor.

The crew then put the huge fish on a stretcher to get blood samples. With no signs of improvement, the decision was made to euthanize him.

Earlier this year in January the Aquarium lost another Whale Shark. Scientist with the veterinary team are investigating connections between the two deaths. At this time the exact cause of Norton's death is unknown.

A Necropsy will be preformed and his remains will be cremated.

Members of PETA protested today calling for the close of the facility until they can assure the safety of the aquariums remaining four Whale Sharks.

Doctors report the health of the four sharks left are in good condition and all are eating well.
