Whale Wars, Season 3, Episode 11, Sees the Sea Shepherds Dish it Out Against the Japanese Whalers

Whale Wars, Season 3, Episode 11 with the Sea Shepherds aired on Animal Planet Friday night. The Sea Shepherds launch a variety of ploys to keep the Japanese from doing their "research" on whales. Season 3, Episode 11 of Whale Wars even saw paintballs used against the Japanese. This is the second to last show of the season, as next week is the scheduled season finale.

Captain Watson Wants the Japanese to Think Him "Suicidal" on Whale Wars, Season 3, Episode 11

The show begins with Captain Watson's ship, the Steve Irwin, purposely coming close (via "Chicken") to colliding with the Nisshin Maru. Yet the skipper thinks it advantageous that the Japanese believe he's "suicidal-" acting towards them. The Sea Shepherds' two boats continue to follow the factory ship, flanking the stern, and has prevented the whalers from doing "research" on the factory ship for six days, meaning up to 60 whales have been saved. But they need more weapons to keep the Japanese in check. Captain Bethune has made his spud gun mobile, and is quite delighted with himself for this on Season 3, Episode 11 of Whale Wars. Paintballs have been added as part of the arsenal. The attack is planned for early the next morning.

The next day, the Bob Barker initially protects the Steve Irwin's stern so the helicopter can be taken out of its hangar and prepared for take off (for recon and potential rescue operations) without interference from the pesky Shonan Maru No. 2. But one of the Yushin Maru's gets on the Bob Barker, which frees up the Shonan Maru No. 2 to get a chance to hit the helicopter with water cannons. The Steve Irwin slowly changes course while the Bob Barker tries to keep both Japanese ships in check on Whale Wars, Season 3, Episode 11. This gives the helicopter enough time to launch. The small boat Delta is then launched in order to shoot the "RESEARCH" signs of the Nisshin Maru with red paintballs, and some of Bethune's shots do hit the lettering.

The Sea Shepherds Dish It Out on Whale Wars, Season 3, Episode 11, But Can They Take It?

Next, the Delta shoots stink bombs of butyric acid at the Shonan Maru No. 2, but this time, the deckhands of the Japanese ship shoot back mysterious projectiles. One Delta crew member, Chad Halstead, complains like a child who "dishes it out, but can't take it" that the whalers aren't playing fair because the Delta crew doesn't have anything to duck behind. The Shonan Maru No. 2's bridge door is hit with butyric acid. Meanwhile, the Steve Irwin breaks away for the time being.

The Bob Barker prepares a prop fouler with five inch thick rope (weighing a ton) on Season 3, Episode 11 of Whale Wars. The crew attempts to drop it to mess up the factory ship, but the attempt doesn't work even though the offensive moves of the Sea Shepherds have now prevented 7 days of successful whaling. The Bob Barker now has to again protect the left side of the Steve Irwin from the Yisshin Maru No. 2 while the helicopter attempts landing on Captain Watson's ship. But the Yisshin Maru No. 1 comes up, so the Delta is sent to distract that boat. In the process, the small boat almost gets run over, though the copter is safe and sound.

Whether you agree with whaling or not, it gets old to hear this "I can dish it out, but can't take it" attitude by the Sea Shepherds. Do they expect the Japanese to just sit there and take it?

Decent Review. I have to say though, that the sea shepard group is the equivalent of Al-Queda, and wonder why anyone would support them. They quote Dr. Martin Luther King, yet use vigilanty justice to get what they want. Hippocrits.
