What Affects Your Eyesight

Don't Believe Everyones Report

Dale L Dupont
Everyone knows everyone is biased. No one has all the facts so be careful what you believe.

I was reading some encouraging emails; some were tear-jerkers, but then decided to check "Truth or Fiction" and then Snopes about what really happened. "Truth or Fiction" and Snopes disagreed about the validity of the email, "A Brothers Song," which brought to mind that Snopes had written an article called "24 Carrot Vision" http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/carrots.asp Since I had written Snopes about their article on carrots, eyesight and John "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, I went back to see if they had updated it, they had not. But what good is a reference if it is not current with the revealed facts? Nobody knows it all, so we should prove if new information is truth, error, or opinion.

They had concluded that eating carrots improves your vision is false. They referenced how the British hyped the benefits of carrots for night vision to mislead the Germans away from the use of a new weapon, night radar. The British even pointed out one night-fighter ace, John "Cats Eyes" Cunningham, as an example. At the same time they do say carrots support eysight. Just because the Britished hyped carrots to hide something should not take away form the good carrots do. For some carrots may improve their eyesight. We need to be honest in reporting about food and drugs.

So I did my own research. I already had read about John "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham in the book "Fly for your life." On pages 309 - 310 another British ace, Robert Stanford Tuck, gave an eyewitness account of Cunningham's abilities to see at night. Go read it for your self.

I also went to the following sites that point out that carrots, the vitamin A in them, are used to help treat night blindness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_A

At http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/v/vitamin_a_deficiency/intro.htm I found research that shows also the use of vitamin A in aiding night vision.

Read for yourself the research and the eyewitness accounts that carrots, the Vitamin A in them, does HELP with your night vision and also supports your over all eyesight. You can get Vitamin A from other sources too.

We really need to remember to check on those who claim to be checking on others and think about what is being said. Sometimes people don't share the whole truth just to get one point across. Continue to eat your vegetables and do your own research on what you should be eating. Check more than one source. Don't depend on others to take care of your health for you. You may need different amounts of the same food, vitamen, etc. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Prove all things hold on to that which is true." Hey double check on me too.
