What to Do After You Pray

Declare it While You Wait! Part I

D. R. Williams
After praying the prayer that arouses GOD'S attention to get the results you are searching for, you may ask yourself, "Now what?" If your prayer request takes time, you have to wait. You already know that effective prayer is direct communication with GOD and your faith is what moves the hand of GOD on your behalf. But if you, like most people hate to wait, occupy the time from when you make your petition until you actually see it happen by declaring it so!

When you make a personal declaration based upon your prayer request, you position yourself into a proactive mode to cause wonderful things to happen in your life. It is not that you deserve it; rather, it is GOD's goodness and desire to bless you. Through prayer, GOD has granted the privilege of loosing, setting free, or causing to flow the things we want for our lives. No matter the trouble or situation, the answer is to find the scripture that supports your request and let it loose! According to the Bible, if you remain in CHRIST and HIS words remain in you; ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. (John 15:6-8, paraphrased)

Making a personal declaration requires you to consult GOD'S word and direction for your life through HIS HOLY SPIRIT. Instead of wishing for things to happen, your personal declaration causes you to speak forth the things you desire. Your declaring is not presumption because it decrees only what the Word says. When you declare, you are speaking emphatically with an exclamation mark at the close of your statement! All of your energy and might is the force behind your words! You are confident that what you have said is true and will definitely happen. Speak your assertions with absolute certainty to bolster your confidence and charge the atmosphere around you with the energies and resources needed to bring those things to pass.

Declarations speak positively about what will happen. Your part is to believe it, then to speak it. With GOD'S help, you will then release it into your life. When you open your mouth to Declare, the first person who hears it is you. It becomes passionate self-talk and banishes fear and negativity from your mind. There is power in the spoken word to bless or curse and power to tear down or build up. In other words, you have the power to Declare life or Declare death right into your very soul! With each Declared word, the things necessary to manifest them begin to materialize. It is amazing how the people, time and circumstances all rush to do exactly what you have Declared!

After you have declared it, don't take it back! Stand firmly behind what you have asserted with the assurance that the greater force is behind you to make it happen than the forces to prevent it. Power is therefore released on your behalf because your confidence is in the omnipotent GOD! "So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." (Mark 11:22-24, NKJV)

You must be willing to stir yourself and rise above the comfortable, familiar way of doing things. You must take the limits off and think big! The good news is that GOD will help you. The Bible assures that GOD can keep you in perfect peace throughout any situation. No matter how frustrated or agitated you may become while waiting, GOD is always punctual to HIS time. HIS promised mercies come not at the time people set, but they will certainly come at the time HE sets. Because we love and trust GOD, we know that GOD'S time is always the best time for us.

As you wait, keep an attitude of joy and thanksgiving. Do not become impatient and tired of serving GOD. Keep your intimate relationship of adoration, favor and mutual friendship with the LORD. Occupy your time fully expecting to receive the things you have asked for in faith. You have already prayed, now wait for it!

"But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
