Viewing films and or movies can be bring so much pleasure to human beings everywhere in any race, culture, language worldwide. Even "happiness and warmth" if the film is so extraordinary that you just can't get it off your mind for days after viewing. Personally, I have always been a big fan of comedies. If I paid $10.00 at the modern day theater and this movie made me laugh so hard that I started coughing and hyperventilating for oxygen. Then I would have to say, I got my money's worth of viewing pleasure.
I guess my all-time favorite movie in my history of viewing thousands of films on T.V. and in the theater has to be "Christmas Vacation!" Starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. Ironically, whenever this film was released in 1989, my wife and I went back and forth to the theater (3) three different times over a period of 2 weeks. We even took family members just to show them the laughter of the theater audience and NOT just the comedy of the film itself during this particular Christmas. "It was a great Christmas!" for my children and family members which I will always remember.
Over the years, I purchased this film on VHS (Video Cassette) and on DVD. Unfortunately however, I viewed this film so many times that I eventually memorized the complete dialogue. Which I hate now days, because I loved this film so much in the beginning. ("I guess too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad?") I seem to know every word for word before the comical characters speak it! Every little scene like "Clark the little lights aren't blinking?" Which seems to stay in my mind every time I put up Christmas lights each year around my home.
Have you honestly loved and watched a movie so many times that you memorized every word spoken in the dialogue? Year after Year? Could it be that this one film has so much meaning at this time and place in your life? Or could it be that this particular film viewing sharing happened on a great eventful day in your life with another wonderful human being in your life at this particular time and date in history? The thought of the film and the other person whom you shared it makes you so happy to think about?
I know a lot of first dates begin going to the movie theater and seeing something on the big screen that may have touched both of your hearts, whether it be a comedy, drama, action-adventure, suspense thriller and maybe even a "Horror" film for the first time. It could possibly be something that you can relate too for the rest of your life? Thinking about how much this other person you were with at the time "laughed, screamed, grabbed your hand, punched you in the foot or even cried at times!? because they enjoyed this film so much.
"It's something both of you will share and remember for a lifetime!" Even if you were watching this film for the first time with family and friends they have also truly enjoyed the excitement viewing pleasure of this ONE particular movie event which you may talk about for years and years to come during family events. Remember when Arnold said "I'll be back!" in the original movie Terminator. You may have stated this during a family or friends event during this time era back in 1980's.
One of my most truly remembered days of movie events, was the release date of "Independence Day" starring Will Smith. On this release date in theatrical history. I personally watched Americans actually stand up at the very end of this historic film in the theater. Clap, scream, cheer, cry, or any human emotional attribute you could possibly think of during this film ending. Simply, because of the best visual effects, worldwide patriotism, story lines and even sometimes "Funny" scenes this film offered for theater viewers on this hot July 4th during 1996 here in American times. Which will most likely stand out for centuries.
So what is your favorite movie of all-times?
