While sales and profits remain steady, Amazon.com looks ahead and re-invents itself by utilizing several online features that will promote the products being sold in the website. Capitalizing on the popularity of blogs, the company launched AmazonConnect.
It is one of the programs of the online store in which artists and authors can post messages directly to the product page and the individual blog. Their messages will also be included to the Amazon Daily, which is the newsletter sent to customers. By using AmazonConnect, shoppers or prospective buyers can interact with the authors or artists of the product they are buying. There is also a book called Sell Your Book On Amazon which explains the ins-and-outs of setting up on Amazon as a writer.
The artists can also use their blogs to update customers on the products as well as to answer some of the inquiries posted. AmazonConnect enables readers to have an ongoing exchange of ideas with the author as well as other readers. It can inspire new ideas or spur a debate. Authors have embraced the idea because they feel connected to their readers even more.
AmazonConnect gives artist blogs the ability to highlight their creations by:
- Showcasing the three most recent posts directly on their product pages.
- Including the artist's posts in their customer's Amazon Daily.
- Posting the artist's posts in the AmazonConnect blog.
- Featuring a link to the artist's profile page AmazonConnect Directory
This kind of feature does not only nurture relationships between readers and artists, but it can also easily turn simple conversations into book sales. It only takes a venue to bring together people with similar interests and passion for books. This is a win-win situation for both the author and the reader.
