What to Do when Asked Why You Do What You Do?

Read: Luke 20:1-8

Derik Matthews
If you live by God's word and do as Jesus teaches chances are, sooner or later, someone will ask you why. After reading the Luke 20:1-8 you now realize that even Jesus, the Lord and Savior of us all, was even asked this question. Although, Jesus answered them with a question He gave the answer to them (and us) in His question. If you are a Christian it is through Heaven that we do our good works, and strive to be like Jesus. What I find interesting enough is that the chief priests, scribes, and elders would not answer Jesus; instead they simply answer, "We do not know."

Have you encountered this question? If so, think back and remember how you answered it, and if you have yet to encounter the question think about how you would answer it. Would you have the answer but be too afraid to say it, or would you stand up and tell why you live your life the way you do? I hope that if you are a Christian and are living your life as God would have you then you would stand up and tell why. Remember Jesus said, "Whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:33
I challenge you to stand up for your faith and belief in Jesus Christ our Lord, and when confronted with this type of question be prepared and fearless to answer with the appropriate answer. Do not be intimidated; instead be strong and ready because the day will come. Also, I challenge you to be open and receiving of what God is telling you.

Thanks again Jack. Although, I do not feel this devotional was not some of my better writings. I just felt I didn't explain enough, but if you read the passage I reference to it is pretty much self explainatory even in KJV. To me it is plain as day what Jesus is talking about. All in all I am glad you are enjoying the devotionals I post.
