What Attributes Go with Cancer Astrology?

Happy Birthday - It's Your Time, Cancer

Cancer astrology is timed with early summer when growth and fertility are coming to fruition. Throughout the end of June, and continuing through the end of July, Cancerian imagery may be seen as mother duck and baby ducklings, or in the abundant flowering greenery of summer.

One of the outstanding traits of a Cancer is sensitivity. Known as the natural nurturing kind, Cancer is revered as the essence of femininity. Interestingly, the very same sign was once considered masculine. Now it is a feminine, but after 400 A.D. the defined character traits also changed.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Also considered sensitive and receptive, the Moon is hence categorized feminine. Astrology creates the categories for the different signs, but feminine traits are usually the same as negative polarity. In this case the definition of positive and negative are similar to the energy of the poles on a battery for example. The usual connotation of negative and positive has no bearing with assigning descriptions, in this case. These are qualities of magnetism within each individual sign.

Innovation and creativity are a big part of life for this native. Sometimes beautiful children are the prize creation. Cancer is also good at writing. Portrayed as having a fertile imagination, the astrology sign of Cancer is often seen on stage.

Since the family unit is so important to a Cancer, identity issues often come to the forefront. In the nurturing role, a person can lose track of identity, and become dependent on another person or situation. Though the Cancer astrology imbues this native with intertwining characteristics, a Cancer wants to feel independent.

Sensitivity is a universal trait. Cancer is a Water Sign, which means they respond with feelings and react to anything from nuances, to intuition, to messages from the psychic realm. These are only a few of the reasons Cancers make good moms. The astrology traits are wide ranging though.
Although Cancer the Crab is a sensitive person, the sideways walk of the crab stands for revenge. Unless a native Cancer has ruled out the idea of revenge, one can look to see this tendency threading through the astrology of an ordinary Cancerian type.

Cancer, as nurturer, is one native that must seize a dominant position for the good of the whole. And to that end, revenge, as opposed to confrontation, can become the indirect method of asserting the dominance that a caretaker must have.
Some famous Cancer Astrology natives are Rubens, Rembrandt, Susan Hayward, Louie Armstrong, and Rose Kennedy.
Early astrology (around 400A.D.) classified the sign of Cancer as masculine. How and exactly when this imagery shifted to feminine is not clear. In this day and time, we don't need to be restricted with this overall characteristic. Both sexes have the capability to nurture.

Other descriptions used within the Cancer astrology are: tender, nostalgic, conservative, reserved, and emotional.
