What is an Aura in New Age Spiritualism?

"Auras that surround you, define you." This anonymous phrase tries to explain the deep meaning of auras. But the enigma still continues to exist. While science explains it as an electromagnetic field that surrounds a body the definition is quite complex to understand. An aura can be defined as an energy field that surrounds anything that takes up space whether it be an object, animal, plant or a person. While some look into auras with a skeptical eye, believers say that auras play a very dominant role in defining our personality.

Auras can be a variety of colors, each representing a different aspect of matter. The human aura is the reflection of the ingenious life energies within our body. These energies define our personality and are affected by our lifestyles and surroundings. They also react to different colors, sounds, and light frequencies. Auras are always variable and not consistent. When a person comes into contact with someone, the frequency of his aura reacts to the other. If these frequencies match, they feel they are emotionally attached to one another. If it doesn't, there's an immediate dislike.

Auras band around our body in a series of layers just like colored hoops. These colors emanate from our inner self. The aura generated by the body not only goes around, but also moves within a person's body. Our experience in the third dimension gets an instant reaction. The great psychic, Edgar Cayce had a deep belief in auras. According to him, auras can be visible to the naked eye, but the ability to view gradually weakens with age. Most people fail to see the aura because of a subconscious worry. If a person concentrates on a volunteer to view an aura he may feel that his subject may get bored or he may become impatient. This pressure effectively negates the relaxed state and results in failure to view one.

Some Auras do have a strong affect and appeal. Situations and circumstances lead to an extreme emanation of auras. There are claims of viewing a beautiful pale blue shot with silver sparks emanating from a person before death. Generally when a person is dying the aura fades and weakens. Children have a clear perceptible view on auras, they see it naturally. Infants can easily distinguish their parent's aura with another person and will dislike being close to them even if a person cuddles them or smile at them.

According to Experts there are various colors or hues that reflect emotions mental activity or character. A blue aura denotes a spiritual person, a person emitting a grey aura seems more depressed and his intentions seem quite unclear. An aura changes from person to person. Paintings depicting Christ and Virgin Mary always have a halo that surrounds them, that is also a kind of an aura.
