What is an autodialer and what effect can it have on your business?

Put simply, an autodialer is a computer program that permits your phone to call a list of pre-selected phone numbers and then either send a message or give the consumer choices to obtain more information or be connected to an employee who takes live calls. You could compare it to a reverse answering machine except it has much more to offer. An autodialer can have an incredible effect on your business since it does a lot of work for your business with minimal expense and almost no extra effort on your part. Calls are completed with greater efficiently and are more effective because only those customers who require additional information or want to make a purchase are forwarded to a sales person so that precious time is expended where it is needed going to have the most impact. Another great advantage is that cold calling is eliminated which can be a tremendous boost to the sales force's morale.

What features should you seek in an autodialer?

There are a variety of features available in autodialers today. Some of the most important features to look for are: compatibility with both landline and VoIP phone services like Skype, voice recognition, the ability to have a different message played based on whether the phone is answered by a live person or an answering machine, automatic retry for busy signals, the ability to auto-schedule calls including regularly schedule recurring calls whether they be weekly, monthly or yearly. The right features make the difference between an autodialer being a true asset to your business or just another burdensome technology on your hands.

Having a variety of personal message choices available helps make your message personal and give your customers a service that seems helpful and personable; you don't want to sacrifice customer service for the sake of saving time and money. Ideally, your autodialer should have a positive impact on your customer's level of satisfaction as well as making things easier and more productive for you.
