It is easy to have all sorts of heavy, negative feelings surrounding your child needing head lice shampoo. The truth is many children come up against the situation during their school years and it doesn't mean they are dirty or unwashed. It may not be something you consider when you think about all the different lice shampoos that are available but they can actually be fairly harsh unless you are very careful and selective about the products you consider using.
Don't Make Your Child Feel Guilty About Their Need For Lice Shampoo
It's important that you understand that just because you have the need for lice shampoos doesn't mean that you have a dirty child. In fact it may just mean that you need to talk to your child a little more about what items they may not want to share but it shouldn't be a talk about being dirty. Certainly you don't want to punish your child or do anything that makes them feel like getting head lice shampoo. Consider avoiding these pitfalls in your search for a great treatment.
Avoid Making Jokes About Lice Shampoos
It's very important that you don't make your child feel bad about needing the treatment. It will only make the entire process that much more difficult. It is better if you decide to reward them for going through the head lice shampoo treatment. You don't want to make them feel like they did anything wrong and you certainly don't want to make a bunch of jokes that may make them feel even worse about the event. If you make your child feel ashamed it will be that much harder for them to want to come to you the next time they have a problem.
By All Means Don't Shave Their Head-Get Head Lice Shampoo
There are so many very effective lice shampoos that are available that you will not need to do anything drastic like shave their head bald to get rid of the bugs. You will be much better off to pick up head lice shampoo than to make your child deal with going to school with a shaved head. You may feel like throwing your hands up in exasperation and get the clippers out to eliminate the hair on your child's head and therefore the bugs as well. Avoid this impulse and just use the treatment you decide on.
Don't Overdo It When Working Through The Treatment
This applies to a few different areas in regards to your child's lice. You don't want them to be stressed any more than they already are. While it's important for you to talk to them about the proper precautions so they don't end up with a repeat infestation, it's also a good idea that you don't make it seem more extreme than it is. Don't be over zealous in the treatment as you can make their skin sensitive and you don't want to make the experience any more unpleasant than it is.
