New York City has something for everyone in their nightclub mix. Visitors and natives can find clubs that cater to every musical genre under the sun in addition to varying degrees of clientèle. Cover charge, attire and wait time varies from club to club depending on it's "it" factor of the moment. Here are some hot spots that offer up a great night with good music.

Pink Elephant, located on 27th street between 10th and 11th, is a nice choice for some serious techno beats. The club cater to the over 21 crowd and pumps out heavy techno beats in it's glitzy environment. Pink Elephant has a scent machine running at all times, which is rumored to contain pheromones so this might not be bad choice for the single crowd looking to score. Weekends are the best time to hit the spot, but it is open on select weekdays. Dress it up for this one, the door is selective.

Arena is a great choice for people who are not married to techno beats. The club transforms during the week into a multipurpose space but during the weekend it serves as a club. For technology geeks who love to dance this is the place to be. Crazy lighting, huge screens and other such bells and whistles are pretty much the norm. Dress is casual chic and they cater to the 21+ crowd. It will probably go over better with the barely legal demographic than seasoned club goers, but it's a nice choice if you are interested in high tech lighting and eclectic beats. Arena is located at 135 West 41st street.

Marquee, Located on 10th ave between 26th and 27th, is described as an "ultra-lounge". The party is constantly bumping and fresh hip hop and dance beats are never far behind. In it's second year the exclusivity at Marquee has lowered a good amount so the "common" folk have a decent chance of getting into this one. It's a more upscale joint so dressier attire is suggested. In any event get on a list to avoid the long lines. Coverage charge is about $20 plus a drink minimum, but being on a list may save you a cover charge. Marquee Operates Tuesday through Saturday from 11pm-4am.

If Manhattan is a bit to rich for your wallet you might consider taking the party out to a borough. Brooklyn's neighborhoods offers up a host of hot spots that are a bit more casual than trendy Manhattan. Iona (South side), CoCo66 (Greenpoint) and Last Exit (Brooklyn Heights) are neighborhood favorites. Each offers up their own individual style of neighborhood fun.
