What the Bible Has to Say About War in the Middle East

Israel and War

wendy van
Many of us want to know whether or not there is ever going to be peace in the Middle East. If you believe in what the Bible says, the answer is No. There will not be peace in the Middle East. At least there is not going to be peace until Jesus comes and makes peace. The peace is only going to come through Him. Below I am going to give you some scriptures that talk about this very thing. They are considered prophecy. These prophecies date back to the Old Testament times. God foretold the future through these men of the Bible. Let's look at what they have to say.

There was a prophet named Zechariah in the Old Testament times who prophesied that Israel would have many wars. In Zechariah chapter 12-14 it talks about how that Israel is going to be a burden to many others. This means that there are going to be wars. These chapters talk about tell us that those who come against Israel will be destroyed. Israel will be saved because God will intervene. We are told that God keeps a watchful eye on Israel to make sure that she is safe.

Some of the conflicts that we have seen in past history have been that there have been 46 sieges, 32 partial sieges, and 5 total destructions. In fact since Israel became a nation in 1948 there have been five major wars. It is amazing and only an act of God's hand that Israel is still standing. As I stated above, God does watch over Israel. He only allows things to happen to them as He plans. He has a plan for them.

In these next few paragraphs I am going to give you scripture that will show you why the wars with Israel began. These scriptures come from the Old Testament. In the book of Genesis it talks about a man named Abraham. Abraham and his wife Sarah did not have any children. They were very old. One day God came to Abraham and told him that he would have a son. Abraham believed him but his wife Sarah didn't. As time went on and Sarah did not get pregnant, she and Abraham decided to take matters into their own hands. Sarah told Abraham to go and sleep with one of the servants. The servant got pregnant and had a son. The son was named Ishmael. Sarah became jealous of this servant and sent her away. She did not want her living with them any longer. Eventually Sarah does get pregnant and has a son. They named him Isaac. This story comes from Genesis chapter 16-21.

In history and the Bible we are told that Ishmael would become the father of the Muslim nations whereas Isaac would become the father of the Jewish nation. This is discussed in Genesis chapter 25. As sons of Abraham these two sons started fighting over land. They both felt that they had a right to the land because they were the sons of Abraham. We are told in the Bible that Abraham was very rich. He had a lot of land. Ishmael believed that because he was firstborn that he should have the land. Isaac believed because he was the promised child that he should have his father's land. To this day there is still a conflict and a fight going on between these two nations.

There is going to come a time eventually where the wars stop. This is what the Bible talks about as the end times. Some of this information can be found in the following scriptures. They are all prophecy about what is going to take place. There is going to be a leader that comes to power. This leader is called the Antichrist. There will only be peace for a short time though. He is a false Christ. Only true peace is going to come when the real Christ comes. The scriptures where you can find this information are Revelation 6:1-2, Daniel 9:27, Daniel 11:30-45, Matthew 24:15-17, I Thessalonians 5:1-4.

Eventually there will be a final war. This war is called the Armageddon. You can find information on this in Zechariah 12-14 and Daniel 11:30-45. Again these are prophecies from the Bible; so if you believe in what the Bible has to say this will take place. The last thing that I want to show you is that there will be final peace. You can see this foretold in Zechariah 14:1-11; this scripture talks about how that we are only going to see peace when Christ brings it to pass.
