The Body by God diet was developed by Dr. Ben Lerner. He calls the diet the "undiet" which basically means that people need to get back to their roots when eating. The diet basically cuts out any man-made foods and beverages and instead focuses on enjoying foods that are natural and from God. With natural foods you don't have to worry about all the added sugars, preservatives, and chemicals that may be added to man-made foods, which means that your body is only getting wholesome nutrients like it needs.
The diet lays out a 5 step approach for a 40 day plan. The different approaches include nutrition, exercise, peace management, time management and the total 40 day plan for the diet. Some people may see the diet as a little quirky as Dr. Lerner sets commandments to live by, but the commandments make sense if you are looking to live healthy and lose weight. One of the commandments (or you can look at them as simple rules) is "No processed carbs, like pasta and bread, especially after lunch." Another one reads, "No soda, tea, or coffee. Replace these with plenty of water and vegetable juice."
Pros and Cons of the Body by God Diet
There are definitely some pros of this specific weight loss diet. First, it unlike many other diets, it includes recommendations of exercise. Some diets will give you all the information you need about eating but won't mention anything about exercising. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you need to incorporate exercise into your diet. The Body by God diet encourages at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week.
Another pro of this diet is that it recommends that people cut out processed foods and unnatural foods that may have added preservatives and chemicals. The more food that you can eat straight from nature, the healthier your body will be. Processed foods contain added calories and preservatives that wreak havoc on the body and when you get rid of those you not only lose weight but you also make your entire body healthier with more energy.
The one con of this diet is that it is very restrictive and some people may not be able to follow it correctly. It's definitely not easy cutting out processed foods when you basically lived off them for years and years. Also, most of the time processed foods are much quicker to make and eat, which is why Dr. Lerner included a time management section in the diet.
The Body by God diet definitely has merit in the diet world. There are so many other diets that encourage people to eat healthy and only natural foods rather than processed man-made foods. The diet is completely safe and if followed correctly will aid in weight loss. Some people may have to get over the whole "God-made" aspect of the diet, but if you implement the Body by God diet in your life you will see weight drop off and will also have increased energy and outlook on life.
