If you live in the United States, you probably associate a boot camp with the military way of getting new soldiers into shape. It is an intensive program that quickly gets these men and women into the shape they need to be in to do their jobs. Fashioning a workout program to match a boot camp style of training makes perfect sense. A boot camp will be the deciding factor in whether you make it or break it in the military. Now it is becoming the best way to get in good shape and it will definitely either make or break you.
Boot camp workouts are good for people who want to lose fat fast, gain muscle fast and do it in the least amount of time as possible. Not everyone will adapt well to this type of workout. The Curves style workout is modeled somewhat the same way as a boot camp workout. It goes from one exercise to the next without stopping. The difference between the two is that Curves isn't nearly as intense as the workout that you will get from a boot camp workout. Boot camp is meant to be a tough program to get through and only those with the strongest will can make it through. You have to be determined to do it or you definitely cannot participate in this type of workout.
If you decide to do a boot camp workout, it is important that you discuss it with your doctor to confirm that you are in proper health to take on this type of workout. The boot camp workout is an excellent way to get yourself into the physical shape that you want to be in. Just be aware that it isn't for sissy's. You need to be prepared for one of the most intense workouts that you will ever get and it's all done in a 20 minute period of time (in most cases). If you don't have the desire to get that intense with your workout, you may be better to stick with the Pilates program that has worked well for many people over the years. There are several other workout programs that work well too. The boot camp workout can help you get where you want to be, but keep in mind how difficult it will be. These are the types of workout programs that made people drop out of the entire fitness world because it was just too hard to keep up with. Sometimes, slower is better and the boot camp style workout is not a slow progression into an intensive program. It jumps right into the full blown workout program and it will show no mercy on you.
Boot camp style workouts are great for people who want to lose weight fast, gain muscle fast, get their heart rate up fast, get done the workout fast and who just like to have an intensive workout. These programs are not good for people who have health issues, don't like intense workouts, aren't in semi-good shape or who give up easily on other types of workout programs. Not every workout program works for every person. This is definitely one of those programs that is a case by case decision. If you don't stick with it, no matter how intense the workout is, it cannot be beneficial to use it. Be sure that this is a program that you can stick with. This is an exercise program that goes well with the saying "no pain, no gain". You will be feeling pain after this workout, especially if you are in poor physical shape already.
