When you show up on graduation day, take a little more time to be prepared so you can actually enjoy the end of your college days. Otherwise, you may regret it.
When I graduated, I had so many things in my purse my girlfriend told me "You are prepared for anything." In my opinion, you have to be because you never know what is going to happen even at a college graduation. Now don't get me wrong. I don't think Ninjas are going suspend themselves from the ceiling. You don't have to be prepared for that sort of thing. I am just thinking in terms of comforts and desires.
For example, I am always hungry. And often, if I don't eat my blood sugar must dips a bit and I get anxious and irritable. Since a college graduation, whether it be a Master's, Bachelor's or Associates degree, can drag on for what seems like forever I felt like I needed to bring food. To combat the hunger war during the graduation ceremony, I brought small granola bars, gum, and hard candy. I brought enough to satisfy me during graduation and several of my friends.
Bottles of water are key too. Since college graduations take place mostly in the month of May, it's usually pretty hot. During my college graduation, we had the misfortune of being inside because of the threat of rain. This made the heat ten times worse. We were enclosed in a tight gym with no air conditioning, amongst hundreds of people, maybe thousands, and were wearing caps and gowns which do not breathe at all. Water was important to keep me from dehydrating and to keep me cool during graduation.
An umbrella should be in your "must bring to graduation" pack. It doesn't matter if you are inside or outside for your college ceremony, you will be walking all about the campus during the day and often times that means a lot of walking outside even if it is just to your car. Make sure you have an umbrella to keep you dry for your trek.
Bobby pins and safety pins are must have for college graduation as well. You need the bobby pins to help keep your cap from falling off and safety pins to secure your gown and any other wardrobe malfunctions.
College graduations would be complete without cameras and/or video cameras. You want to make sure that preserve your college graduation memories. And while they will take your photo on stage when you receive your diploma you want to be able to get your own shots with your friends and other goofy nonstaged pictures.
Other important things you should forget on your graduation day:
A pen to give contact information to keep in touch with friends.
Paper to write the information down on.
Tissues in case your tear up or bawl your head off.
Make-up for the gals to touch up their faces for photos.
Things you borrowed from classmates and who you may never see again.
Sunglasses in case you are outside for your ceremony.
No matter what you bring, just make sure you bring what you are going to need to feel comfortable. Don't just show up and receive your diploma or it is going to be a long day.
