2 robes, nightgowns or nursing gowns that has buttons in the front if you are planning on breastfeeding your baby
2 bras or nursing bras if you wish to breastfeed your baby
1 set of warm socks in case your feet get cold during labor
1 pair of comfortable slippers
3 pairs of underwear in case of stains
5 packs of maternity pads
1 item to be used as a focal point of concentration during labor
Any toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, hairbrush, deodorant, shampoo, soap, and anything else you feel you might need
Items For The Father or Labor Companions
A digital camera to take pictures of the baby
A watch in order to time the contractions that the mother will be having
Insurance card
2 t-shirts
2 pants
Any reading materials or even music that will keep you occupied while you are waiting
Items For The Baby
5 diapers
3 undershirts
3 nightgowns
2 pairs of socks or booties
1 hat
2 receiving blankets
1 outfit for going home
1 blanket or some type of outerwear that is warm in case of cold weather
1 nail cutter
1 pair of scratch mittens to protect the baby
3 newborn feeding bottles along with 3 newborn nipples in case you are not going to breastfeed your baby
1 bottle of 70% alcohol
1 pack of q-tips
1 package of cotton
1 bottle of baby oil
1 can of small milk prescribed by your doctor
3 packs of towelettes
1 tube of diaper rash ointment since newborn babies have very sensitive skin
Again it's best to pack everything before hand so you can avoid going to a store in case the hospital is unable to provide it for you. Be sure to call the hospital beforehand and find out what they do and do not provide for you so you know exactly what to bring.
