What is Butterbeer and What Does Butterbeer Taste like at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
A Favorite Drink of Harry Potter, Butterbeer is Now Served in the New Harry Potter Theme Park
So just what is butterbeer, and what does butterbeer taste like? Well in the Harry Potter movies it seemed to be some type of beer that you could only get in Hogsmeade village. Once Universal started to make plans for a Harry Potter theme park they knew butterbeer would be a big hit there.
The only problem was, it did not actually exist! So they gathered up a group of chef's and started making a recipe for butterbeer. They consulted J. K. Rowling, who said she always thought of it as a sweet type of drink.
Finally after a lot of trial and error they came up with their final butterbeer recipe, which was taste tested and approved by Rowling. Nobody knows the ingredients, except that it's non alcoholic and has no dairy products in it.
Inside the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park you can only buy it in two places right now. They have a big butterbeer cart in the middle of Hogsmeade village outside. You also can buy it in the Hogs Head Pub attached to the Three Broomsticks restaurant.
Butterbeer actually is sold in two varieties, frozen and regular. Everyone has their own preference, I'd try them both! You can buy it in a regular plastic cup for $4.00 or in a souvenir mug for $10.00.
So what does butterbeer taste like? Well most people describe it as a cross between cream soda and butterscotch. Others say it's like shortbread and butterscotch. All agree it's very sweet with a thick head of foam on the top.
It's light brown in color and thick. I'm sure it has plenty of sugar in it! You can only buy it inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and only the two places I mentioned above. Because it's so popular there is always a long line for it.
I hope they make a few more butterbeer carts so that the lines are shorter. For Harry Potter fans drinking some butterbeer is a must! So if you go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, make sure you get some butterbeer and see for yourself what butterbeer taste like!
