What to Buy for a Baby Shower Gift

April Griffus

So you have the invitation to a baby shower and you need to get a gift. Now what do you get? Being a mom myself I will let you know some of the best gifts I received. The best things to get are things you can use for the new baby and a couple things for yourself don't hurt either.

Things that the new mom can use for the baby will be the most beneficial to her. The thing she will use most is diapers. Babies have to be changed an average of 10 times per day so you can imagine how fast a new mom goes through those. You may think diapers aren't a very cute gift but trust me, the new mom will thank you for it.

Baby wipes are also in high demand for a new mom. Just as often as she will be using diapers she will also be using wipes. A really neat gift is a baby wipes warmer. They make these nifty things to keep the wipes warm since they tend to get cold just sitting out.

If the new mom plans on bottle feeding these will be key. Plenty of extra nipples will help also. Going along with the bottle feeding you can also purchase bottle warmers, insulated carrying bags to keep the milk warm on the go, bottle drying racks, bottle sterilizers, and a bottle brush for easy cleaning.

There are always things needed for the baby's cleanliness also. An infant tub stocked with goodies is a great gift. Fill it with baby lotion, shampoo, cotton swabs, cotton balls, baby wash, powder and any other "bathroom" type needs you can find. This makes for a very cute themed gift.

Some other great gifts mom's can use for the new baby are pacifiers, bibs, clothes, socks, blankets, infant toys, photo albums, a baby book, or diaper bags.

It is also a very nice idea to get a gift for the mom herself also. A lot of mom's actually feel left out when everyone is so excited about the baby. Some of the best things you could get the mom to be would be things that will help her relax. She's been carrying around a child for months and months so she could use some "me" time. Bubble bath, calming scented lotions, a gift card for a manicure or spa treatment, calming hot tea, anything of that sort would make her feel a lot better.

Hopefully this article helped give you some ideas of what to take to a baby shower. Now don't forget the card.
