What You Can't See in the Mirror

C. Love
When we look in the mirror, the reflection we see
May be skewed, not a picture of reality
Or a complete representation of the image
The things unseen, incomplete and unfinished
Sometimes it takes seeing yourself through someone else
In order to visualize a full reflection of self
As they view you through experiences shared
Knowledge possessed, truth balanced and compared
When we see ourselves, we can't see a full impression
Standing still it's hard to see the progression
For us to see us, sincerely see
We must filter through skewed reality
The murkiness of our past situations
The impressions made on us through human relations
It's easier to doubt and disbelieve our worth
Than see our purpose, why we were placed on this earth
That's why it's imperative for us to permit
Others to help us see where we fit
To see our reflection in the eyes of those who believe
Allowing them to show us what we are unable to perceive
Encouraging the talents, abilities and gifts
When we turn the wrong direction, aiding in the shift
Sometimes it simply takes allowing another in
To allow a revolution of self to begin

Well written. You are right, "Sometimes it takes seeing yourself through someone else, In order to visualize a full reflection of self." Powerful words.

Excellent and very true. Relating with others who inspire and believe in us is so important. :-)

Very nice. It is important to be connected to people that not only favor our prosperity, but encourage and believe in our mission here on earth. Great poem.

How true! That is all the more reason why we must surround ourselves with people who believe in us and see our value even when we lose sight of it. Well done.

Excellent work, as always. It is so true that we need another panoramic view sometimes to see pass the false illusions that we create sometimes for ourselves. I think sometimes we get lost in the many identitites we portray to the world, and forget which one is real. Often times someone else has to come along and dig the treasure back out because we bury it so deep that we can no longer find it oursleves. Check out the piece I wrote entitled Reflection..... you will enjoy it!!
